Wow, what a great game. This is the first look I've had of USM all season and I didn't realize how small of line up you all have. Good teams find a way to win games and that's exactly what USM just did.

Great result for all of USM, CUSA, and MU. USM still has an inside track for the NCAA's, the conference hopefully will get at least 2 bids, and MU won't have any false impressions of Tom Thumb being able to turn around the trainwreck that has become Herd Basketball. Nice Game Eagles.

Every team has the occasional out-of-the-blue unexpected trouble game. The truly good teams will generally find ways to pull those games out in spite of their struggles. Congrats to USM on that, and on the win. They took care of business when they had to. I hope the Herd doesn't meet them in the tournament. It'll be a 20ish point game in that case, I think...

That makes sense. I can agree with that.

What an emotional game....gotta give credit to Herrion....he planned perfectly (triangle D under the bucket was perfect) for us and we couldn't respond from the perimeter.. MU couldn't miss in the first half....had to be around 60%....

Not a slam against Marshall, but that was as sloppy a game as we could've played. TOs were ridiculous and missed free throws was crazy bad....we even got the benefit from the zebras on a few calls.

Haven't looked at the stats and don't really care....it's a win that had to happen for the benefit of the school and conference.

We stole this one.....

I'm gonna go take a crap now that this cliffhanger is over.....what a game

Heh, I noticed that too but chalked it up to the frustration/pain.

I must take my hat off to Marshall's team and coaches tonight. They had a game plan that was superb, stuck with it to the end. My team just somehow found a way to win. Congratulations to both teams on a great fan's game. Watson was clutch in the end. I should have known early that we were in for a dogfight when Watson actually missed a free throw.

All the credit in the world to Marshall. The Herd deserved the win, but in special seasons, you win some at the end you had lost and tonight was one of those nights for the Eagles.

This game kinda stinking up the joint for most of the game, but pulling it out in the end reminded me of the Tech-Tulsa last night...with the home team in both cases winning the game.

"Tom Thumb" coached his ass off tonight. If you guys can play like that in the environment they faced tonight they can play and win most anytime.

RE: Marshall/USM game thread
Whatever Marshall was doing defensively they completely shut USM down for a majority of the game. This is one of the few home games that I've seen where USM didn't have a highlight reel dunk whether it be an alley-oop, offensive rebound dunk, or breakaway dunk. But what it did have was another Neil Watson 3 at the end of the game

they packed tight down low with the triangle and pulled the front two back in a tight formation and dared us from the outside....was fugly how we handled that....soooooooo many bad passes trying to get it inside....

however you look at it....thanks Neil....what a bury you nailed at the time we needed it....was a monster make!!!!

It was nice to finally be on the winning end of one of these games where you are down by 2 and hit a 3 at very end to win game. I remember losing 3 CUSA games (Memphis, UAB, Tulane) like that in one season 3 yrs ago.

Boardingham is 6'7 and Craig is 6'5. Those are our starting post players. Neil Watson is 5'11.

gonna say it again....UTEP is going to give us problems

they have mass that can move things around with ease....

said it from day one, a team with size is going to be an issue for us
