Darn. He was a true talent. I always thought Stripes was one of his best, and yet it still got no mention.

Wow - very sad. I had no idea he was so sick. And Torch, I agree re Stripes. Really, when you consider his writing credits, he HAS to be in the pantheon of american comedy.

If certain people hadn't been douches Ghostbusters 3 would have come out a long time ago.

His hand sure was in a lot of movies.

FWIW, I never really got into Stripes--it wasn't bad, just never got into it. I thought Caddyshack was epic, but then they made Caddyshack 2.

The fact that Stripes did so well at the box-office is amazing, since it was in
theaters during same weeks as Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

It was a different time. Our society where movie goers back then. Those movies came out when VCR's where in their infancy and movie rentaly (let alone on-line streaming) had not yet taken off. If you didn't catch a movie at the theatre you weren't going to get it again unless it came out on television a year or two later (CBS, NBC or ABC not SpikeTV or some other Cable outlet).

Wasn't a fan of Stripes, but his work in Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, and Caddyshack was amazing. A great talent was lost the other day.

amazed that no one has mentioned Animal House or Back to School. The former being an absolute classic and possibly the best comedy of all time.

Whereas others don't like Stripes, I never cared for Animal House.

don't even know how that's possible. But I guess I don't know how people could dislike Stripes, so that's my answer
