Tech rolled up 500 yds on Troy today... the same Troy that people gave FSU hell about for winning late against by only 1 touchdown. Keep in mind, Tech's using a new OC this season. If Tech keeps that kind of offense throughout the season... to match the Top 15 defense.... LOOK OUT.

The only "impressive" thing I can say about G Tech's game yesterday was that at least they were tied with Troy after a full 3 quarters, as opposed to being down after 3 to Troy (see FSU).

Somehow I'm guessing most on here didn't follow Tech v. Troy too closely yesterday. Just thought I'd have full disclosure because your game recap certainly wouldn't lead anyone to believe Troy had you tied with 15 minutes left!

Go ask joe blow fan on the street of his Top 15 teams over the last 5 years. Think he'll include Louisville?

They're close, but not quite there yet.

Speaking as a die hard Louisville hater, you have to give the devil his due. They're a for real program and will be a national contender into the forseeable future barring something drastic happening.

GTS can't help it, his team is in that lower BCS League the All Crap Conference. ;-) 05-stirthepot 02-13-banana

Louisville is not a powerhouse yet BUT we are on the road to becoming the next Virginia Tech except we don't stomp on our opponents legs our lip off opposing fans or hit opposing coaches.

I gotta tell you that I am jealous beyond belief but it gives me hope.

As a Tiger fan I second this as well.

ShoreBuc,
I helped my folks move this weekend and came across an old Louisville Courier-Journal sports page from 1996. I wasn't saved for any special reason, it was just some packing material in an old box.

I opened it and was skimming through it, and guess what I saw?

Well, your ECU pirates had just defeated the Miami Hurricanes by 31 to 7. Amazing coincidence!

I remember thinking that I hope my Cardinals fare better over the next decade than your beleaguered program after that victory!

Please don't take this as smack, as I hold no ill will toward the Pirates. It's just that one victory over Miami is no guarantee of anything.

Who cares what people think...If peoples opinion determined success, UofL would never do well. No one want's to give us our due. Call us a power or call us by some other names as long as we go out on the field and win. Everyone wants perfection from us in order to call us a power, If we loose one game it'll be...I told you they weren't any good...so what if they've averaged 10 wins a year for the past three years. They lost one. If we won the national championship they would want us to do it the next year to prove it wasn't a fluke. Crap on um.

Huge difference is UL has BCS access. If you guys run the table beat WVU at home you will be in a BCS Bowl in Jan and that is huge. So I would say it is not that one win against Miami that makes you a BCS power it is a combination of wins and direction of the UL Program.

By the way we beat Miami twice, 97 and then again in 99 but that has not gotten us anywhere as of late.

Weren't they on probation then or just coming out of probation? I can't remember.

They were recovering from probation in those years. !999 was a very solid win over Miami for ECU since there was a lot of national title talk surrounding the program. I remember being very shocked over the outcome of that game.

Coming out of probation but still a damn good team.
In 1996 Miami was Big East Co-Champions.
They beat.
Rutgers 33-0
Pitt 45-0
WVU 10-7
BC 43-26
Syracuse 38-31
The only teams that beat them were
ECU 31-6
FSU 34-16
VT 21-7
They beat UVA 31-21 in the Carquest Bowl
Finished #14 in Final Poll

1999
Miami beat
Ohio St,BC,WVU,PITT,Rutgers, Temple,Baylor,Syracuse and Florida A&M Finished 2nd in BigEast
They lost to
Penn St,ECU,FSU and VT
Beat Georgia Tech in the Gator Bowl
Finished #15 in the Final Poll

So unless they make it back to the Top 25 and finish higher then #14 or #15 you could argue that we beat better Miami teams then we saw on Saturday. We also shut down Edgerin James and Santana Moss to win our games which was no easy task.

Not beating the chest on this ancient history either just pointing out what we hear a lot and that is we beat Miami on probation like they were sisters of the poor then and that is simply not accurate. Not their best teams of all time but certainly not their weakest.
