RE: Greensboro
Seton Hall-Providence & Creighton-Xavier for the Friday night BE semis. Not exactly Syracuse-Georgetown. I'm sure MSG is thrilled.

Generic Arena, dull town, poor fan turnout. Yawn.

I realize tomorrow and Saturday will be much better but seriously the fan support is ridiculously bad today. It looks like midmajorville.

Please remind me again why we invited these guys to join our conference.

Because it allowed you to renegotiate an horrid tv contract and helped get the ACC's tv revenue back in the same neighborhood as the other P5 conferences. It's all about the Benjamins.

Hopefully a few years away in truly decent facilities will make the ACC realize what an absolute joke Greensboro is and they will wise up and decide that since there absolutely has to be a tournament in NC that it should be in Charlotte. Not only is the facility better there is far more to do outside the tournament.

I think that is the path to compromise. Anchor in Charlotte instead of Greensboro. For all the same reasons the ACC FB CG is there.

I agree with this. Charlotte keeps NC in the rotation and puts it into a real city. Atlanta, Charlotte, DC and Brooklyn is a really nice rotation. All 4 have a ton of things to do outside of the actual games.

I don't see any scenario where Greensboro won't be in the rotation. Too much history and tradition to be thrown away completely.

I went to my 1st BET last year and it was a much cooler experience than the Final Four. Obviously I cherish the NC run we went on more, but the MSG conference tournament set up and culture is awesome. It should belong to the best basketball conference and the championship game belongs on prime time Saturday night television. Period. End of story.

There werent many things that the BE leaders did right. But the BE Tourney at MSG was among the very best of the things the league did get right.

Greensboro sucks, but watch it keep the tournament on average once every 5 or so years. I agree that Charlotte is many times better than Greensboro.

Oh, I wouldn't be surprised. It's in the ACC's DNA to make things as beneficial to Tobacco Road as possible, even if it hurts the rest of the conference. The only hope is now the undue influence those self-absorbed bastiges that think the sun rises and sets in the God-awful Triangle have been neutralized enough by the new additions so we finally can get away from doing business like it's the 1950's. The NC-centric way this conference has been run is a big reason we were in such a precarious position a few years back, why we are projecting to be sucking hind-tit in revenue compared to our peers for years to come, why we lost a charter member, and why we had to have a poison pill like a GOR for there to be any semblance of stability in this league.

There's a reason the ACC is NC-centric when it comes to basketball. Since Florida State joined the league, there are four teams with a conference record of .500 or better. Three of them are from NC and the other just went to the Big Ten. That had nothing to do with where the tourney was played - that's regular season games only. The ACC has been a two team league for a long time.

For the record, the fourth NC school (NC State) ranked 11th out of 12 in conference winning %, barely edging Clemson by a single victory. The ACC has also been NC centric because it has been the geographic center. Like it or not, tournaments and CGs have struggled to get a foothold outside the state.

There's a huge difference between these two games, that were happening at the same time - the crowd. The Greensboro crowd was freaking sitting. 03-zzz03-zzz03-zzz Not many people even stood up after the dunk. Meanwhile the New York crowd is standing and buzzing as the play develops.

Side note: the lighting in MSG is far superior to that of the Greensboro Coliseum's.

Florida State buzzer-beater

Sterling Gibbs buzzer-beater

You do realize that the Villanova/Seton Hall game involved a top 5 team that was in the process of being upset. MD and FSU involved the ACC's 8th and 9th place teams that were just a few games above .500.

But we know it doesn't matter to you. Syracuse will only be happy when the tournament is in NY. We know that Atlanta, Charlotte, and DC will not satisfy you either. I understand that if you have spent a great deal of time in upstate NY that getting to come into the City is a treat.

Don't throw rocks if you live in a glass house.

Glad to see that you upstate folk know you are in a glass house. However I did get to see Mark Twain's grave in Elmira. 04-cheers

It's actually in the same graveyard as Ernie Davis' grave.

LOL no ****

To be able to renegotiate your friggin hideous TV contract, to fill your arenas with our fans and those that root against us, to be involved in the two most watched Hoops games on ESPN so far this season, to bring in the school that was on the 3rd most watch college sports game all of last season (including FB), to bring in a school that took first place in college basketball attendance away from UK, to bring in a school that set the on-campus attendance record this year in hoops, to bring in a school that wins bowl games, to bring in a historic football team with deep tradition, shall I go on?

-to bring in teams with great markets/great academics
-to bring in teams that give the conference a foothold in NYC

I agree that the tourney needs to be on a true rotation that includes Charlotte period. Like I've said before, there is nothing special about Greenboro at all. But with that said I doubt they get completely frozen out & don't see the tourney moving to NYC on a permeant basis even if MSG comes available.

This thread reads like 2 cultures clashing. I hope that the ex-Big East members realize what their schools have signed up for. That's not meant as smack, it's just an interesting (neutral party) observation I have reading this thread.

If we are going to play in North Carolina, then the men's tournament needs to be moved to Charlotte IMO. Greensboro can be the permanent home for the women's tournament.

the acc schools realized what they signed up for when they decided to host the tourny in one of the stupidest places imaginable.
