look at the coach before him steve lavin made 5 sweet 16's in the 7 years he was there he had 1 bad season they fired him. every one they hire will have to live in the shadow of john wooden.

To put it in perspective, they don't even hang banners for Final Fours at Pauley Pavilion.

I think we have CBI & NIT banners somewhere in the CFE Arena rafters.

Kennedy makes $1.8M in Oxford? Good grief, they really have no clue about basketball down there. He needs to ride that gift horse for as long as it has legs.

He was on the hot seat until Ole Miss won the SEC tournament last year and won a game in the Dance. What a difference a couple of wins in March will do for you. Heck, Stan Heath made a career out of inheriting a veteran Kent State team.

He has been riding that gift horse for 8 years...and has just 1 NCAA Tourn appearance to show for it...hence why he might be looking to jump ship...as he will probably have 4-5 years (of pay) wherever he lands..vs possibly being fired any year, month, day, hour at Ole Miss.

$1.8M, no. Living anywhere in Mississippi, yes.

USF doesn't want him.

Oxford fancies itself a mini-Charlottesville.

If USF hires Kennedy then you better put your cab drivers in the witness protection program.

Kennedy's affinity for racial slurs wouldn't play as well in Tampa as it does in Mississippi.

Even in Oxford MS he is not well thought of "socially".

He's a complete goon.

Wonder if he is still unable to service his wife?

Thanks for the laugh, I had forgotten about his wife's loss of consortium claim after he literally told the Muslim cabbie to go pound sand!

That would be the same Athletic Director (Larry Williams) who made the negative comments about Tulane in a radio interview, even though his daughter Kristin Williams had just recently been hired by the Tulane athletic department to work on NCAA compliance issues. I have always wondered if Larry Williams' public remarks were prompted (at least in part) by something Kristin Williams told him, or by something he inferred from her conversations with him. However that may be, it is a fact that Kristin Williams left Tulane about 8 months after Larry Williams' anti-Tulane remarks (she took a similar position with the MAC league-offices in Cleveland), and Larry Williams left Marquette one year later (in other words, 3 months ago), and I don't know what he's been doing since then.

Classless infidel... Thats my description of Larry Williams. 07-coffee3

If you pick the right place, MS is not that bad.
Sad thing is 80% is the wrong place.

Its a nice country laid back state, they don't care for much.

RE: Ole Miss coach interested in USF job
This article mentions Howland, but he seems to want the Wake Forest job; even though it is not open. Realistic candidates mentioned by this article are John Pelphrey and then this group:

"USF has three choices.

It could find a young coach at a small, up-and-coming program, kind of like how Southern Cal scooped up Andy Enfield from Florida Gulf Coast. Maybe USF could make a run at, say, Manhattan's Steve Masiello or Fairfield's Sydney Johnson or Robert Morris' Andy Toole."

Good grief what a hit piece. I had to check to see if McDouchebag was back writing about USF because that read like the trashy insults he puts out. Clearly this guy has to be a Gator homer since he rags USF and the AAC every second of that article and then pimps the perfect hire is John Pelphrey, Gator assistant and flame out at Arkansas. I mean he was much worse than Heath was at Arkansas.

Howland is a really good coach and seems like the best reasonable option.

If he was trying to hide it he didn't try hard. Also find it hilarious he tried to say the AAC isn't a good league, yet the Gators play in a league that got half the bids the AAC just got even with SMU getting robbed out of a bid. I'm confident USF can hire a good coach, and certainly someone better than Pelphrey.

Sad part is his background is from Pennsylvania and went to school at USF in the 80s so he has that attitude that USF should just be this small sunbelt school at best and let UF be the school to cheer for in football.
Sadly this is the mentality of many USF grads from before we had football and basketball was a sunbelt sport

Mine, too. My second favorite was bringing a bs civil suit for millions of bucks to bully the immigrant cabbie he accosted in a drunken racial slur filled rage and the kid valet who witnessed it and then before he could dismiss said bs civil suit against these villains he had to pay them on their counterclaims. I repeat, dude is a goon.

From what I have heard he is interested but is not mutual. Doubt he gets the job. More and more I'm thinking we will either go out with a BIG name or we will get a young up and coming I'm hearing White the LaTech coach is getting attention.
Wouldn't that be great we take LaTech basketball coach and they took Skip.
