ODU Alum Oliver Purnell coached Clemson for 7 seasons and in 2010 said "**** this ****" and left for Depaul. Maryland said it too, "**** this ****". Because ACC basketball is UNC and Duke. It will never change. Danny Manning will disappear in a black hole. He'll realize just like Purnell did that winning in the ACC is an act in futility if your name isn't Mike Krzyzewski or Roy Williams. Now that Pitt and SU are in the picture, the climb only gets steeper.

Now that he's an ACC coach, the clock starts counting down to his eventual firing. It's what happens to you if you're not the coach of Duke or UNC.

Yes the acc has been and will always be unc and duke. Wake passes the name on the shirt test and has for a long time. You have a good season your in. Lots easier to get an at large from there than tulsa.
A coach can have a nice long life at a school like that. Moving from tulsa and from the aac to the ACC was and will always be a no brainer.

I didn't think their fanbase would buy into the whole "our conference is a step above cusa" koolaid. Whatever though. Their fans were cool for the most part. In the larger landscape of things - I don't see any CUSA coach seeing the AAC as a step up. Then again, I didn't think Danny Manning was going to take the WF job either.

It's sad to say this to a UTEP fan since I did like our competition with you, but.... "keep telling yourself that when you're playing at FAU's high school gymnasium next year." CUSA will be a 1-2 bid league every year barring some vastly improved OOC scheduling. AAC will probably we a 3-5 bid league every year.

tulsa fans, by far, are the least educated out of the bunch... thank god, there is only a handful of them and we're shipping them out
