21,
I would agree...with Mike's new recruits sounds like we may get the right mix of guys in 2007 as well.
Everyone is talking about another scholarship in addition to the three.
Just spectualtion but who would go...the one who does not seem like he is hitting the weights as well as maybe he should is Abdul, but I would think Mick would be more patient woth a kid who still potential has 4 years.

You cannot run Abdul off with both Adam H and Hall still not cleared. Abdul has at least thrre and maybe four years to get better.

I'd say the chances of Abdul staying at UC are very slim. Word is out to everyone, for various reasons, he'll probably be transfering at some point in the near future.

This is the first I have heard of this and was wondering why he would transfer now? He has already stuck it our for 1 and a fraction years. If he were to transfer to a Division I school, he would have to sit out another year plus a fraction. That makes no sense, so the only way for him to go is down one division, play his year, then back up.
But all of that begs the issue. Is he being run off? If so, by whom and why? Is Mick running him cuz we need another scholarship? Is he being run due to lack of basketball skills? Do we already have someone in mind to give his scholarship to? I just don't understand, and would appreciate all the help someone can give on this.

So..if Abdul leaves
Are there any 2007 players Mick might pull out of the hat to replace Abdul?
Thanks,

To be clear, I hope Abdul stays. I would like to see what he can do.

This would really shock me. He stayed through eligibility issues and two coaching changes and he'd leave now and go sit out another year? I can't imagine this. I thought Mick said over the summer that Abdul had been great all summer and was one of the kids that was in his office night and day hanging out and talking. So much for inside depth if we have questions on Hall and Adam H's eligibility and then Herrera bolts.

There are major questions among the coaching staff about his work ethic, like the whole off season conditioning issue. He's the only player to not participate, which was by his own choice. He hasn't improved much, if at all, on the basketball side. He's still very slow and has horrible footwork. From what I understand he doesn't fit in with the type of system that Mick is going to be running.
It's not 100% yet that he will transfer, but Mick is recruiting for 2007 as if Abdul ain't going to be around.

I had heard some stuff too, to make believe Abdul would leave UC. Someone told me don't expect Abdul to stay at UC past (January/February)

Where did you hear this? Have you seen him lately he has lost 25 pounds and I spoke with Coach today and he is really impressed with what Abdul has done in the off season.

Its as if Bill Koch were a visitor to the board. Talk about a timely article!

On a side note, nice to see 2 Bearcat/human interest type pieces today. Feels like the local coverage is going to be high at least early on.

You also know you can't believe everything you read in the paper. I can't see anyway Abdul would leave now. Only way he leaves is if he can't cut D1 ball and doesn't get to play. Don
