RE: BB Class of 2016
Getting back to acutal recruiting...

2016 post player Gorjak Gak was a definite eye catcher at last weekend's Hoop Exchange Player Showdown in Orlando, Florida. He also has the attention of a trio of schools.

Gak, 6-10, 205-pounds out of Bradenton (Fla.) Victory Rock Prep, told 247Sports that he is hearing from Cincinnati, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Now ranked No. 174 in the 247Sports Composite, Gak is a raw prospect a year removed from Australia. Nonetheless, he has promising potential with his length, mobility and developing skill set.

Gorjak? That rocks. Sounds like a name you'd see in the family tree appendices to Tolkien's Silmarilion.

ie Catswin son of Snart son of b (Dispatcher of Gorjak the Defiler)

After reviewing this BB Class of 2016 thread, i see no reference to Cumberland. Therefore the "month and a half old" bears no relevance.

This thead is more valuable with articles about RECRUITS.

RE: BB Class of 2016
KenPom has a recruiting forecast as a part of his site right now. It attempts to take into account a wide variety of factors such as a programs 5-year winning percentage, playing time availability, how close a recruit is to a school, amenities, media coverage, graduation rate, academic rating, history of sending players to the NBA and then assess the odds of where a player will go to school.

I don't know how accurate the model is, but it has UC as having a 97% chance to land Cumberland.

You may be right, I don't know. But I've heard Michigan State was far and away his leader but that was before Matta got involved. Not sure how he felt about his hometown team getting involved so late, but that may have no effect I don't know. He was at the OSU-Purdue game a week ago. Also, I don't think he would have gone down to UC for senior day in the middle of his HS tournament if he wasn't interested, especially since it was on his own dime. Just my thoughts.

Swanigan, top 20 recruit from Ind., committed to Mich. St. yesterday, we now may have a good chance with Ward.

RE: BB Class of 2016 Xavier Green
Not an area on the XU campus..

Perfect name ????

"The 6-foot-6 junior swingman picked up the offer last weekend while playing for Team Loaded 757 during last weekend’s AAU tournament in Dallas.

Green has impressed college coaches with his versatility as a scorer and passer The Williamsburg Christian Academy product has improved on the defensive end.

The Williamsburg Christian Academy product had another breakout season this winter, guiding the Eagles to the Virginia Independent State Athletic Association Division 2 state semifinals. He averaged 19 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for the Eagles and eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau for his career. Green was named Metro Conference Player of the Year and was a first-team, all-state selection.

As a sophomore, Green average 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists in his first full season at WCA after transferring from Jamestown High. He earned Metro Conference honors and led the Eagles to state tournament berth.

Green now holds offers from Hampton, James Madison, Mount St. Mary’s, Longwood and Old Dominion. He’s also received strong interest from Virginia, Clemson, Wake Forest, Providence, Maryland, Virginia Commonwealth University, Xavier and Creighton.

”Coaches love his versatility and hi ability to play three different positions,” said WCA coach Chris Gann. “They like the way he impacts the game on both ends. He can guard multiple positions on defense and makes others better on offense with his playmaking. He’s a great team guy and wants to win first, over stats.

^^^^^

This guy has offers from Hampton, James Madison, MT. St. Marys, Longwood, ODU and Cincy. What!!!!!! Seems we are starting to scrape the bottom because they still have not got one commit from any of their priorities. Cumberland from Wilmington, Kansas and Mich. St. visited yesterday.

If you follow recruiting a little closer you'll see that lower tier schools offer early and the big boys don't jump in until later. This has happened a lot in the past with Mick's recruits where he is the first "major" to offer and 2-3 months later other majors start giving offers.

Recruiting no doubt has fallen off big-time the last few years. A lot may have to do with the style of play and lack of offensive reputation they've developed. Who knows but it has become very disappointing.

Really, thanks for the lesson, which one of Mick's major recruits, he only has one. So, we have already jumped, that's my point. According to you, we must no longer be a big boy.
