They are, G5 schools need to return to 1AA and their peers.
Return? Most of the G-5 never even played 1AA/FCS.
To be fair, Cincinnati's schedules in the 40s, 50s, 60s had a lot of teams that have since dropped down to 1AA (like Dayton) or dropped football alltogether (like Xavier & Wichita). That was usually about half of our schedule, so our overall schedule strength was nowhere near what the Big 10/Big 8/SWC/SEC/PAC was doing.
Of course, Louisville was in the same boat so they're throwing stones in a glass house. Same with the ACC before 1953 and most of the Eastern indies (there's a reason that JoePa had 3 undefeated seasons before he won a national title).
Perhaps, but back then there was no 1AA/FCS.

Not sure what you are calling "bull" on. 1AA/FCS are relatively recent designations that started in the 1970's. Before that, there was the University Division and College Division. That was before my time so I couldn't tell you who played where---my guess is some will be obvious, but some would probably surprise you.

I find this statement hilarious coming from a Louisville fan, whose team's first conference was CUSA in 1996! Before that they were either Indy or playing in the Missouri Valley Conference.
We were playing SWC football and winning National Championships while Louisville was losing games 105-0 to the likes of MURRAY ST.

Yeah, those are the teams that I grew up thinking of as Independents, but over the 80's and 90's they gave in to the Green Side of the force of conference TV contracts.

Those of you who think WVU is headed to the toilet. Look at the record in 1978. My Mountaineers have seen the sewer already and they aren't going back.

Let's face it: in a few years it will be P5 and everybody else. As it is now, not a great percentage of the population could tell you who's in the CUSA, SB, MAC, AAC, CAA, Big Sky, etc. because those teams are seldom on TV.

A lot of the population went to schools in those conferences. I will give you this; however, the schools that have the fans that get there team T's at Walmart have good numbers.
