It doesn't help that the writer is openly mocking the bowl. Gheesh, whatever happened to being a professional.

That changes my whole perspective on this.
That's terrible. What was a potentially good move in the let's see how this plays out is now a complete loss. Nice job C-USA.
Awe, our first C-USA screw up.

Ugh. That means 11 am central time and 9 am pacific. I think it should be an eastern time zone C-USA representative in this bowl.

I didn't see where he was mocking it and the few commenter's seemed to be saying they would watch it. I think it's actually a good thing. Two games with CUSA teams on Christmas Eve that a lot of people will watch is good exposure. If you really love college football like me you'll watch the Squirt Cheese Bowl from Abeline if it's all that's on.

Bad timing will kill this bowl as it's a bad day to have any bowl for tv - most people will either be just getting up to go for that last minute shopping or going to eve mass/church if they move it to later in the day. Better off moving it to say the 22nd, 23rd or 26th but we have Banowsky so it's par for the course stupidity that does nothing for the league

This a made for TV bowl for the time being. If it survives, Im certain you will see CUSA move the game to a central mainland location or at least to a solid venue (Alamodome?). CUSA will also likely kick up the payout to obtain a better opponent with an eye toward making it the post season destination for the CUSA champ (or runner in BCS years). As an bowl which typically features a P5 opponent and a G5 champ, it will receive a better kick off date.

Man, Cbelt should hire you as their publicity director, Bagdad Bob for example. This Cusa is gone, cant sell the crumbs to anyone. I respect the newbies for trying to realize their lifelong dreams but boys, it aint here.

Why does every city want a bowl nowadays? Why the heck is there a Boca Raton bowl? That's stupid. Just a way to get money while no one comes to the game.

What was the hoped-for kickoff time?

Honestly, your pessimistic outlook is very frustrating. Our football conference should be very exciting, if not successful this year. Marshall has a legitimate shot at an undefeated season and Rice, UTSA, and FAU (Just off the top of my head), have chances to make program defining wins against TAMU, ND, Arizona, Okie State, Nebraska, and Alabama. I bet you that we win at least one of those games!

I guess you should be relieved that the chances of UAB landing in this bowl hover somewhere between "slim" and "none" then?
Seriously, hearing a Blazer fan carping about a bowl destination is kind of funny.

I really feel sorry for your wife, husband, girlfriend, partner...
it must be awful living with someone that is always negative. Of course I'm joking, well kind of.
But a serious question if S. Miss sports is making you feel this way why not walk away for a season or two. I understand right now it's not like you want it to be. And you feel like your best friend stole your girl and moved right down the street....
close enough to see but still out of reach and she really doesn't want you anyways and you feel rejected . Go fishing, work 18 hours a day, I would say go hunting but you probably need to stay away from guns...do anything but S. Miss sports
You actually remind me of a few WKU fans after the muts got a C-USA invite and FAU came in late to steal Westerns. Some things are what they are and you either excepted them for that or move on. Both ways life becomes easier.
I've never seen a fanbase so dejected as S. Miss

I don't think schools in this conference understand that most USM fans are sad that we even have to blog with the new CUSA. I miss arguing with TCU and the like fans. I know many other schools would agree that USM needs to go independent. I will say it I HATE THIS CONFERENCE. I don't care if I sound negative. I hate the CUSA logo has to be on our fields, uniforms, newsletters, website, and let's see well that is all I can think of right now. We are a CHARTER school of this conference so to some degree many of the current schools are able to be in this conference because of USM. Not that I expect any respect from that but it is the truth. If your wishes are that USM gets thrown out of the conference nothing would make me happier. My fellow eagle fans may disagree but hey this is a message board.

OK, ONE MORE FREAKIN TIME! The USM guys posting on here are not reflective of the majority of our fanbase. I really don't understand why they keep doing this. If you guys hate this conference so bad why are you here? I've had people in my life that I didn't want to associate with but I didn't show up at their place and tell them how bad they sucked and how little respect I had for them. I just ignored them and stayed away from them.
I can't fathom why we have a few guys who insist on giving the rest of us a bad name. The majority of USM supporters, particularly the ones who support our program financially realize that we should send a big thank you note to the newbies for saving our collective asses with our TV contract. We also feel that in a few years CUSA will be as good as it ever was and the ones that left went to the exact same conference they were in.
Please stop branding USM fans by the posts of a few guys on this board, one of whom's life mission seems to be to hate any and everything related To La Tech.

Thank you for your post. I have successfully resisted a very strong temptation to respond to these guys knowing that I would be less than cordial. It is nice to hear from a USM fan who represents a totally different point of view.
Every ODU fan I know is very happy to have moved up to FBS football competition by joining C-USA. The transition has already proven to be difficult and challenging, but the upside is huge. In the near future we will be building a new stadium. We are scheduling teams like Pitt, NC (ouch), Maryland, NC State, VT, Vanderbilt and other not yet named P5 teams. We already have home and home agreements with NC State and VT.
This year we will host the conference favorite and have the opportunity to watch Taylor Heinicke (our favorite and best known Monarch) battle it out with the Herd's Rakeem Cato. We also get LA Tech and Middle Tennessee at home. These are exciting times for Monarch fans, and we are proud to support our Monarchs in C-USA.
The Monarchs have already proven to be competitive in both basketball and baseball in our new conference, and we fans look forward to the Monarchs battling with USM and participating in spirited dialogue with Golden Eagle fans for years to come.
GO MONARCHS!
