RE: Jerry Palm's bowl predictions
Palm is giving the Detroit game as an at-large to the AAC and the Independence Bowl at-large to CUSA when he's allotting them only 6 overall and those conferences have at least 6 tie-ins to begin with.

Tulsa in Detroit when the MAC is backfilling the AAC in St. Pete doesn't make any sense.

I thought MAC football was worse than the SBC? At least that is what I get told on the boards.

Its got more conference tie-ins ... but that bowl projection is a bit silly, so its nothing to use to claim superiority for the MAC in a pointless pissing contest.

The point remains is the MAC does not have 8 tie-ins. It only has 5 tie-ins but palm is projecting it will have 8 teams with 6-6 records or better.

That is called earning it on the field. The SBC is projecting only 3 schools in the post season, likely because they'll only have 4 or so schools with better than 6-6 records.

Another factor in Palm's analysis could be that the SBC has a couple of transitional FBS programs in App and Georgia Southern that could compete in the conference right away but not eligible for bowl games.
