Thought this was pretty funny take on the World Cup.

"They kind of suck at this sport, and they like another sport a lot better."

"Both started professional leagues at the same time. Both are relative newcomers on the world stage."

Apparently Syracuse is a newcomer that sucks and doesn't care about football. We made 3 bowls in the last 4 years and will almost certainly make it 4/5 this year, despite having one of the tougher OOC schedules in the nation over that span and being in a power conference every year. Heck, we even have a share of a conference championship in that time. Even within the realm of the ACC, we finished 3rd in the Atlantic last year. That's in the top half of the better division. At worst, we're on the good side of average. As for caring about another sport more and being a newcomer, the former is pure fiction, and the latter only applies to the extent that we're new to the ACC. Calling us new to collegiate football is a really, really dumb statement. I hope that he didn't mean it that way.

The "Fighting Irish" are now English...03-lmfao

Notre Dame as England

This comparison is too easy. There's obviously the pompous, inflated sense of self-importance based on championships won in the leather-soccer-ball/leather-helmet era. There's the fact that England refused to participate in the World Cup for decades because they thought doing such a thing was beneath them. There's the fact that anyone remotely good on either gets ridiculously overhyped by the media, who consistently drool over 'return to glory' narratives. England has won jack squat since 1966, like Notre Dame's 1988. And I'll be shocked if either reaches the pinnacle again any time soon.

What is this "World Cup" thing? Is it a drinking game?

He compares VT to Mexico. Wait until the Eagles come south of the [Maryland] border this Fall!

This piece had so much potential and fell flat.
