I think losing four senior guards, all of whom started at one time or another, might be a cause for concern. Also, it doesn't seem that Rothstein looked at JuCo transfers or maybe he just isn't as impressed with Hawkins as most Memphis fans.

I like that pick...as Temple sacrificed redshirting those transfers last year and no doubt they will make some impact this year.
While they did lose a top player to transfer...Temple I think is still the "unknown", as they normally have solid teams...so I wouldn't be surprised if they make a big jump up the standings this year, especially compared to last year.

Well his JuCo coach certainly likes him. We'll see how that translates to D1. >>
“Memphis is getting a kid that they are probably not even going to know what is coming," said Southwest coach Jerry Nichols. "He presents mismatch problems for everybody, and he’s a freak of nature. He can jump out of the gym. Memphis doesn’t have a player like him. I know this for a fact. I’ve seen him play at full strength, and I promise you that they don’t know what they are getting. That’s how scary he is.”

A 5th place finish and (most likely) no NCAA tournament for Temple this season and there will be a major uprising in Philly from the Temple fans and alumni. I’m cautiously optimistic but I think they get inside the top 4 in the conference and get a bid.

As it should be. Temple should never settle.

ECU is exactly where they should be, since we can't put them lower then #11...
I see 4 bids coming from some combination of the top 5 teams in the league. IMO, Memphis gets left out...but it is obviously WAY too far out to predict

temple was horrific last year, to say anything less than a top 4 finish and ncaa bid is in essence a failure is silly.
i think temple be improved and if by chance temple made the NIT, not the ncaa, there would be no uprising and temple fans would celebrate that and look forward to 2015/16 season

Yeah, I just don't see how Terry Whisnant & Lance Tejada were left off the "Impact Transfer" and "Impact Freshman" lists, respectively.
Terry Whisnant
SG - 6'3" 180lbs
Avg 5.2 PPG in 17 MPG for a very good FSU team back in '12-'13.
Lance Tejada
PG - 6'1" 175lbs
Offers from: ECU, Alabama, Butler, FIU, Florida State, George Mason, Miami, Murray State, Rider, South Florida, UCF, Virginia
2013 Avg 23.3 PPG, 4.5 APG, 2.9 RPG
Oh well. The American will find out soon enough.

I agree it way to far out to predict anything regarding Memphis. I could see us getting left out. I could see the new players coming together and playing top 20 basketball. And I can see everything in between. :)

I do not buy the claim that SMU will be better than UConn, Cincinnati and Memphis. I will have to see it happen to believe it!

I have no problem with them being the favorite today given the rosters of the 4 teams, but at the end of the day I trust the other teams more simply because they have proven it more (and a good amount of the guys who did the proving are still around).

If Memphis gets left out of the touney......ay yi yi.
If Coach Pastner thought he had it tough before...carumba. Memphis fans wouldn't just put signs on his lawn to sell his house....they'd probably pack it on a truck and move it themselves.

Sure, but it's the Tiger boosters that decide Pastner's future not the rank and file screamers. Let's not forget that Josh has made the NCAAs the last four years running -- more than a few quality programs can't say that. Sure, he'll take *major heat* but with all of the lost experience and new players most boosters might understand. Now if he doesn't make it the year after anything could happen. Plus, if we get / recruit the players we expect in the next two years all will be forgotten.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. This is a much better league than you have honestly played in prior. History shows we shouldn't expect a lot but I honestly hope you prove us wrong. The better the bottom is the better the league as a whole will be. Someone has to come in last and I can't see ECU being in the top 7. I really think it will be a toss up 8-11 with ECU or Tulane likely being the bottom.

Why do ECU fans keep putting all this pressure on this Tejada kid? You realize basically every player on Memphis, UConn and Cincinnati (possibly SMU too) held better offers than the guy you keep pimping as an 1st Team All-American? Delusion at its finest....

I like the jucos we got. I keep hearing on the Roar board Burrell is a dynamic scorer and very versatile. I think he ran point forward in juco.

I do believe I said he should be on the AAC "Impact Freshman" list. Did I say 1st Team All-American? Hyperbole at its finest.
Go away, troll.
