1st time to Syracuse Game..
I hit a few out-of-state D1A games per fall and this year the Carrier Dome is on my list. Just a couple ?'s that I was hoping someone could help me out with all relating to my trip there which will be the 8/29 opening game vs. Nova:

-I have not got tickets yet cos one of my buddies isn't sure if he can go and prolly wont know til the week before. If I just plan on getting walk-up tix on gameday will they be availiable from the box office?? I ask cos I'm not sure what the demand is for the program...I know 'Nova isn't a huge game, but it being the home opener concerns me there will be a big spike in attendance.

-What's the tailgaiting situation like?? Does the dome have a big lot where most people hang out?? If not what would be the best lot to park in for pre game festivities??

Thanks in advance.

You will have no trouble at all buying walk-up tickets for the game. In fact, you can probably score some really good tickets on the street for peanuts. Friday night of Labor Day weekend ... there won't be much of a crowd and there should be plenty of tickets floating around. There isn't a bad seat in the Dome.

SU doesn't have one huge parking lot around the Dome. There are a bunch of satellite parking lots that everyone is dispersed into for parking and tailgating. If you don't have a parking permit, you can take your chances trying to find a cash lot near the campus, park at a Frat house, or you can park at Skytop (SKY) and take a free shuttle bus:

The best tailgating action is always at the FINE lot with TexanMark and the SyracuseFan.com crew. 04-bow

Thank you, so much for the information! One other question for you. I'm staying downtown (on James St.). Are there any cool pubs, places to eat or tourist things that I should check out while I'm in town? I don't have a ton of time as I'm getting in gameday morning and heading to Cooperstown the following morning, but if there's something you'd reccomend doing/seeing I'd consider taking the opportunity to check it out while I'm there.

Cheers!

You'll want to check out Armory Square for food and drink, or even the world famous Dinosaur BBQ if you have time. Marshall Street on campus is a pretty popular pre-game area.

Here's a copy of TexanMark's Tailgate guide with a few more tips:
