So if one of them loses to you guys, they are OUT of playoff contention (2 losses). But yeah, you don't want them to have like 6 losses or anything...
Exactly. The situation is so difficult because it's a bit self-fulfilling. You want to have quality wins by those teams to be in contention, but losing to one of our teams all but takes them out of contention.
Houston got as close as any of us have. If they'd won every game, they would have played the "we got snubbed" #5 role.
If, on top of a perfect season, a few more things had gone their way...
Memphis beating Mississippi
UCF beating Michigan or Maryland
UConn beating anyone, anyone at all
Oklahoma or Louisville making the top 4
...it would have been difficult to lock them out.

Washington was not a strong 4 last year, IMO. An undefeated Houston would have jumped them, I think.

All speculation at this point, but I think even a few 2-loss teams would get the nod before us. If Washington had lost 2, the 4-spot would have very likely been Penn State.

IMO, the story isn't the fact that USA Today picked [SPOILER] the USF Bulls to win the conference championship in football... the story is the fact that they figure the Bulls will go 4-0 OOC, but lose 2 games in conference!

Must take exception to this quote "The conference must stop all this cannibalism if its teams want to be taken seriously...". Winning all our OOC games and losing in conference is better than getting smoked OOC and cake walking in conference.

Have you seen their schedule? They aren't playing against Illinois' basketball team.

TRUE.
I guess the point is that there have been ZERO undefeated teams in conference play since UCF went to the Fiesta Bowl. Being a long-suffering ACC Coastal fan, I know about having a bunch of teams go 6-2 in conference...

Preseason polls/predictions can be funny things. Here's a real puzzler this coming year:
UCONN Women's Soccer is ranked 14th in the Preseason National Poll (with no other AAC schools even receiving votes)
...meanwhile...
UCONN Women's Soccer was chosen to finish 5th (out of 8 teams) in the AAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Hmmmm.....

We had Wisconsin and Michigan State on the schedule this season but they both pussed out.

OK, that's TOO MUCH. Maybe ONE of those plus Illinois?

Terrible idea, IMO. Nobody in Atlanta gives a crap about the AAC. And both Division winner fan bases would have to travel on maybe one week's notice. Seems a lot more reasonable to play it on the home field of one team, which in most cases will bring a great crowd, whether the other one travels, or not.
But the blog itself is outstanding.

Yeah, in case you couldn't tell, it was tongue in cheek. I realize the SEC owns Atlanta - despite the ACC having a school there!
