The best-case scenario is for the ACC would be:

Boston College upsets the Trojans
Clemson sweeps Georgia and S Carolina and gets the #4 playoff spot
Duke sweeps its OOC games
Florida State wins another national championship
Georgia Tech beats Georgia.
Louisville finishes in the middle of the ACC but wins its last two games Miami gets back to being Miami, whips Nebraska
UNC doesn't lay an egg at ECU
NC State runs the table OOC
Pittsburgh beats Iowa
Syracuse beats Maryland
Virginia somehow upsets UCLA (I know)
Virginia Tech steals a win at Ohio State
Wake Forest sweeps OOC

Do all those things and I'll declare ACC football is where it needs to be.
Thoughts?

I think that SU will be favored over UMD. I'm not sure "best case" is the right word. Imho, "best case" would be going 4-0 (aka beating Notre Dame in the Meadowlands and not tripping in the other 3 games that should be wins).

This may actually happen.

I see wins over Notre Dame to be somewhat ACC-reputation-neutral. Yeah, it's a good win, but it devalues the next ACC win over ND, so it quickly becomes diminishing returns. Beating a Big Ten team (even a newbie) is ALWAYS good for the ACC (ditto beating SEC teams, etc.)

RE: 2014 Season Best-case Scenario
With South Carolina's win, Clemson has a chance at redemption if they beat the dirt peckers. Our loss today may have been a win for the ACC even though I don't like it 03-puke

Not really that far off from the best-case scenario so far.

04-cheers
