I mean look at the Thabeet phenomenon. He got signed on bigness alone.

Right - if this illustrates anything it probably illustrates this. It's not a Pastner is good or Self is good thing. I mean didn't Earl Barron play in the league for a number of years?

BTW I had to check ---- Under Bill Self Tarik had his lowest points per game of his career, the lowest number of rebounds in his career, the lowest number of blocks in his career, and the lowest number of steals in his career. At a time when he had the most college experience in his career. Just informational --

Oh sorry --- the Tarik Black stats under Pastner and Self >>>

Is this guaranteed?

I'm really happy for Tarik, but I'm also a bit surprised. At his size, you need to be able to shoot the ball a little bit in the league.

I am really responding to MemphisCanes comment about this being another player Pastner has put in the NBA. By default the credit goes to Bill Self. That's like giving Stallins credit if Kedren Johnson gets to the NBA.

If you're an unthinking dumba$$ it does. So, right, there will be some that do that -

The work that Pastner put in with Tarik will only be recognized by our fans but others will not see it. I personally don't believe Self had anything to do with it.

The proof is in the stats. Everybody 'has' to look at this before posting. 03-lmfao I'm only laughing because many won't.

Or giving Coach K credit for Elliot Williams to the NBA.

A little different, Elliot only played one season at Duke, and didn't even play that much at that. Tarik played 3 full seasons at Memphis and was a major contributor all 3.

GREAT! So if Kedren Johnson totally degrades under Pastner yet, come NBA summer league Kedren gets better and gets a contract ... Pastner gets the credit. This is a huge 'no lose' for Josh. 04-bow

Good for T Black. I loved his potential as a freshman but for some reason he just couldn't blossom at Memphis.

Hope he has a long pro career.

For some here (The Defaulters) the answer is "yes" --- using Defaulter logic you could cut a guy's legs off and if he still manages to make the NBA despite not having legs (because you cut them off) - you still get the credit for getting him there.

Yup..Plenty of time to blossom in the pros. Go Tarik! BIGS need time. Look how long it took Dorsey. Uhm..isn't that where Dorsey is too. http://houseofhouston.com/2014/07/15/rep...ey-dorsey/

Congrats Tarik!

FYI - The only person getting "credit" for this is Tarik.

I'm interested in hearing the responses of John Martin and Gary Parrish on this signing.

if I recall correctly, both of them agreed that he had a better chance of making an NFL roster than an NBA roster... hmmm

If Pastner did so good then why did Tarik transfer and play another year?
