Clawson has a decent class coming in and they have a ton of Fr and Soph on the depth chart. Just going to take a year or so for Clawson to get things going.
For our Louisville friend who wants to kick them out....just remember that in a year or so when the Deacs jump up and bite you. They might never challenge for a playoff spot, but unlike the other three NC schools Wake at least does more than pay lip service to football.
If you are going to put down UNC, NC State, and Duke, at least do it with some facts other than jaded opinion.
Here are the facts:http://ope.ed.gov/athletics/InstList.aspx
Clemson Football Revenue $41 million, and you spend 49% of that or $20 million on football, and you women's programs is funded at just 23% of your football revenue.
The Gamecocks Football Revenue is $49 million, and like you spend 49% of that revenue on football, and fund their women's program at 26%
NC State's football Revenue is just $32 million, and they spend 58% of that or 18.4 million on football and fund the women's programs at 33% of football revenue.
UNC made $31 million and spent just $16 million or 52% of their revenue from the football program on the football program, and funded their women's programs at 41% of football revenue.
Duke made just $24 million from football and spent $19.2 or 80% of their football money on football, and they funded their women's teams at 67% of their football revenue.
WF made just $15 million from football and spent 93% of that on the program or $14 million but funded their women's program at 57% of football revenue.
None of this includes capital projects like the new indoor practice facilities at State or WF, and IIRC Clemson has or is doing something new as well.
Now when it comes to revenue in the two states:
SC $49 million, spends $24 million
CU $41 million, spends $20 million
NCSU $32 million, spends $18.4 million
UNC $31 million, spends $16 million
Duke $24 million, spends $19.2 million
WF $15 million, spends $14 million
You and SC are just putting 50% back into football on an annual basis and you consider that not to be lip service. UNC puts 52% back and that's lip service. NC State puts 58% back and that's lip service. Duke puts 80% back and that's lip service.
Why can't you just admit that the 30,000 seat advantage in your football stadium allows you to raise more money in football and that you can then spend it as you see fit. There are just two college football venues in SC - you and SC and together you seat about 190K. There are 5 major college football venues in NC and they seat 240K - perhaps if there were just two major football teams in NC, they would have 80-90K seat stadiums and have the football money that you seem to think is needed to pay lip service.
Out of curiosity - what to you constitutes not paying lip service? It's can't mean spending half your football income on the sport itself, so what else is to be done to not pay lip service?
