Dafuq?

I also posted my school's average standing in the 2014 Director's Cup, which is 32. Can you match? You've got Stanford, so that's a nice head start.

Firstly ... I'm way too lazy. Feel free to find out and post if you're so inclined.

Secondly ... as I stated in the post in question .... I have large issues with both USN&WR and the Director's Cup. USN&WR does not normalize per capita on a **** ton of things, and the reward schools for being very broad in scope regardless of how deep they are in those areas. The Director's Cup is basically how many sports do you care to field regardless of cost. Some of these Olympic sports have so few schools in them you automatically get Director's Cup points for merely existing or being above .500 in them. Frankly Scarlett, I don't give a **** if your schools have a "competitive" rowing league. Or women's rowing. Or women's field hockey. Or men's water polo. Or women's water polo. Or Rifle. Or Skiing. Or Bowling. Or women's ice hockey. Or gymnastics. Or women's gymnastics. Or squash. Or synchronized swimming. And yes, all of those are director's cup sports. And on top of that ... some inexplicably count twice. There's track and field ... and then indoor track and field. And I'm sure none of the people doing endurance track running are also on the cross country teams which also count, amirite?

If you're honest ... in college sports the major sports are football, men's basketball, and then baseball. In that order. The minor sports are women's basketball. Then in no particular order, indoor volleyball, hockey, lacrosse, and softball. After that, you might as well not bother installing stands. So even if your combined average for the Director's Cup was 8 for 16 teams ... I really couldn't possibly care less. You would be swimming in irrelevant fools gold. I'll keep competing for football/basketball/baseball titles ... you keep competing for that coveted squash title huh?

So you're saying I made the intelligent move given how I knew everybody was going to stumble over themselves for the same piece of turf? Thanks.

Just look at these 20+ monstrosities people are creating by merging themselves to try to get something cohesive and semi-relevant.

You know what? I'm actually going to veto these mergers. By having a merger, you're effectively getting two first round picks to my one. Then two second round picks to my one. And so on.

So no -- you can't have your mergers. Veto.

Ideal Conference Draft
LOL

I was just curious to see how we compared on that single data point, I never said it was the be-all, end-all.

I also never expected you to go all mega-douche over a fantasy draft, but that's cool.

No, you are being a big time commissioner. Think Roy Kramer, Jim Delaney and Boss Hogg put together. 07-coffee3

If you're curious ... then do the leg work to pull the data on nearly 100 schools. I'm saying it's a fool's errand because USN&WR, Endowment, and Director's Cup Rank are all terrible metrics.

I also never expected you to go all mega-douche over over bad metrics in a fantasy draft, but that's cool.

Rumors are circulating...I heard from the Dude of Hickory Hollow that several schools are being asked to leave...but that contradicts from official SAS press releases that all 22 are all valued assets. Another rumor has several schools are submitting applications.

I've heard from inside sources that was confirmed by THE Dude of Blue Berry Hills that SMU, Rice, Houston & Tulane maybe possibly be replaced by 2 of Texas, Arizona St, Kansas or South Carolina at the end of the season.

RE: Ideal Conference Draft
After the mergers, I'd have to go with the SAS. It has a couple of nice footprints in each division although 22 schools would be better split into 2 conferences.

RE: Ideal Conference Draft
Husky and I have merged. Unfortunately, Army did not make the cut.

I'm still tinkering with it, but I went ahead and divided our divisions. Doesn't make perfect sense, geographically, but I like how the Midwest/B1G schools are together, and the private/basketball schools are together. May have to change a few to strike a more competitive balance, though.

Ohio State
Wisconsin
Michigan
Michigan State
Minnesota
Indiana
Northwestern
Iowa State

Duke
UVA
Vanderbilt
Mizzou
Kansas
UConn
Boston College
UMass

FUNCTIONAL FIEFDOM

This post by Green goes to show why the SAS is the best conference here, along with other reasons as well.
