Wish we had played this cohesively against Minnesota and Memphis!

Turnovers hurt anyone, especially if they're by your senior leader QB. So many interceptions / mistakes will drain the team.

I think Memphis and Minnesota just had to much talent on defense. You guys play better against teams like ODU. Good game by both squads. Made my Friday interesting.

"You guys play better against teams like ODU."

5-2 against Memphis.

Gotta admit they had our number down pat this year. Memphis *was* like ODU for a long, long time but maybe they've turned the corner.

Very entertaining game! ODU still needs a season or two but they are definitely on the right track. Middle Tennessee keep up the good work.

Give us a roster that has players and a good coach and that series number would be a little but different

Despite the result, that was a fun game to attend (and my young-adult daughter now has a new life experience -- a streaker!)

If we're going to take a thumping, at least it was at to a helluva an opponent. Well played, Empty Sue!

I don't blame Wilder for taking the TOs late. It's still a two-possession game, they get a stop and score, then get the onside kick, they have a chance. It's a hulluva long shot, but there's no reason not to at least make the effort.

You think? And if the sun came up at night it would be daylight then too.

That's kind of the point of the competition don't you say??

I didn't have any problem having better players and better coaches during the series.

Whelp. Good game MT. You guys gameplanned and executed very well tonight and were overall more physical. The early turnovers were a killer for us but even if we had played a better first quarter I think you would have had an edge on us. For us to win more games this year I think we'll have to start strong and then try to hold. Depth still a major issue and there's no fixing that.

Congrats on the win. Regardless it's nice playing a conference game again after the limbo of last year. Glad to be in CUSA.

Go Monarchs!

First, hats off to ODU fans. Stadium was rocking and looked great! Awesome atmosphere to add to cusa. I really look forward to our game there next week, and there will be over 1000 kelly green clad fans to add to it.

Second, ODU looks like a strong FBS quality offense playing with a half FCS defense. Some of those guys just look outclassed in speed, and strength and size out there. Nothing you can do about that until you get a couple more years of recruitinf to replace them.

The turnovers were crazy tonight but nice representation of cusa tonight. Congrats to MTSU.

Ps. I hate bye weeks.

Our pass D is Divison-2, however. Gotta do something about Steve "Swiss Cheese" Ellis, the DB coach

Great Friday night despite the loss. Crowd was hype, I ended up on national TV, got some hilarious shots of the streaker. Fox Analyst stopped by our tailgate and took pics in our photo booth. Even had a MT fan take a pic, but she just used a neutral football and none of the ODU props.

I can barely talk from screaming. MT was the biggest and fastest team I've seen us play at home, ever. I felt your team was much better than NC State.

Good luck the rest of the season and hopefully we can return the favor next season!

This^^^. I was really impressed with how hard both teams played all game. MTSU just has more FBS talent, at the moment. Grammar is solid. Both of our next games will present some real challenges based on what I observed.

Good game Empty Sue. I don't know if the others are being nice and politically correct, but I didn't see you guys as being faster, more talented, etc. I saw a pretty evenly matched game where we shot ourselves in foot too many times early in a game where we should have run up a decent lead in the first quarter. Frankly, if we executed like we did last week, we would have one by 2 TDs... but we didn't. Look forward to payback on the basketball court.

Is Grammar always that reluctant to throw it downfield? He had it all game if he wanted... our secondary is the worst unit on the team... it but only took it on the last TD. He did a great job managing the game, but with the hype about him coming in, I thought he'd be slinging it and not all dink and dunk stuff.

I don't know about faster but they definitely seemed bigger. They pushed both of our lines around all game.

I think what little hype he has gotten has been about his legs not his arm.

Not belittling any team, but it would be a mistake to think Marshall lacks speed and FBS talent. If you start slow on Marshall, you will be down by 17 in the first quarter.

Bare it and we'll share it.

All we TV peoples got to see was the refs' reaction (which was albeit pretty funny).

RE: Middle Tennessee at Old Dominion - Friday (FS1)
Congrats to MT on an impressive win. Someone earlier said you looked better than NC State, and I fully agree and will add that your are stronger than the injury-riddled Rice team that the Monarchs played. Your running game is lights out and the passing game was just what it needed to be. We really got off to a slow start, but I suppose just maybe the Raiders had something to do with that.

I actually thought the Monarch defense played one of their better games. The offense just put them in some bad short field situations, and that punt return was a killer. Once Heinicke finally got going, the offense looked like its normal self. If I did my math right, ODU actually outscored MT 21-17 in the second half.

All in all, it was not the result I was hoping for, but I do believe the Monarchs got beat by a pretty darn good football team. Good luck the rest of the season. Now it's time for ODU to get ready for Marshall.

Cheers!
