B1G Basketball Preseason Thread
Yeah I know we're in football season, but I'm pumped for the basketball season to begin....this is how I see the conference to start.
1. Wisconsin - I don't think I'm being a homer here...our starting five and sixth man are very good...depth is the only concern imo.
2. Nebraska - Bring a ton back...every other contender loses a lot, plus Miles has already shown he's an excellent coach.
3. Ohio State - very young, but very talented
4. Goofers of Minnesota - possibly the best backcourt in the conference
5. Michigan - Levert, Walton, and Irvin form a good backcourt, but big men are questionable here. Young and not very big.
6. Iowa - Bring a lot back. I hope Fran loses his mind at some point again this year.
7 . Indiana - Another team with very good guards and not much in the frontcourt. Yogi always kills us.
8. Michigan State - Don't know a lot about this team other than Trice and Valentine...have a lot to replace
9. Illinois - Bring a lot back, but Abrams' injury is huge. Would have had them in the top 5 if he was playing.
10. Maryland - Don't know anything about them outside of Dez Wells and Evan Smotrycz...I'm most likely underrating them here.
11. Penn State - Newbill should be one of the best in the conference, need other guys to step up consistently
12. Purdue - Can Hammons finally put it together in his last year? Kendall Stephens needs to take a step forward and become more consistent with his shot.
13. Northwestern - meh
14. Rutgers - They were awful last year, so I doubt they'll be any good.
I'd love to hear input from y'all on your teams and if you have a ranking.

Rutgers and Northwestern will definitely duke it out for last place based on everything I've seen. Eddie needs to show improvement in competitiveness and unity with his team this year.

In a hotbed like the Jersey area, if you get the right guy in there that can recruit a bit to challenge Nova, Pitt, Ohio State, UConn et al. for the best recruits, I can definitely see them eventually becoming relevant.

RU's football team may win more conference games than the basketball team this year.

Ouch. Rutgers is down to 10 scholarship players, according to the local rag. Two are partial qualifers.

illinois will surprise, i guarantee a march madness appearence, however ninth isnt that far off. I see one of the top nine teams severly underperforming (im guessing michigan due to frontcourt inexpirience but i hate doubting belien)but this is an eight bid league
