I have a post on both boards at the moment. I knew this one might attract a hostile crowd so I put it here.

Typical liberal. You complain about a board that was full of ad homenim/personal attacks, beg for a "graduate level Spin Room" full of intellectual stimulation - minus any challenges to your opinion, end up getting your way(minus the intellect), then return to the board you originally complained about.

Liberal men are not any different than irrational women, IMO.

Page 1, post #8 I posted the following:
Quote:Can you be a pal and change the title of this thread to read "Gay marriage mega thread"? Considering you're not FOR marriage "equality". Thanks.

Here we are on Page 8, and JD shockingly has not answered in the affirmative (or negative, even) to the above request. It's like he's scared to do the right thing.

Why bother?

The whole point of the thread was to troll people, not have a serious discussion.

RE: Marriage Equality Mega Thread
“The people of Oklahoma have the right to determine how marriage is defined. In 2004, Oklahomans exercised that right, voting by a margin of 3-1 to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

“The will of the people has now been overridden by unelected federal justices, accountable to no one. That is both undemocratic and a violation of states’ rights. Rather than allowing states to make their own policies that reflect the values and views of their residents, federal judges have inserted themselves into a state issue to pursue their own agendas.

“Today’s decision has been cast by the media as a victory for gay rights. What has been ignored, however, is the right of Oklahomans – and Americans in every state – to write their own laws and govern themselves as they see fit. Those rights have once again been trampled by an arrogant, out-of -control federal government that wants to substitute Oklahoma values with Washington, D.C. values.”

Rep. Sally Kern also released a statement on today’s decision.

“Oklahoma, or any state for that matter, should not have unelected judges who are not accountable to the people deciding what the laws will be,” said Kern. “Oklahoma voters, at 76 percent, defined marriage a one man and one woman. I am calling on my colleagues and the governor to stand in unity that Oklahoma will let Oklahoma decide what marriage is and should be. Every child deserves a mother and a father, and only natural marriage provides that.”

So in conclusion, Oklahoma will ultimately take away the financial benefits associated with marriage. Then eventually stop performing marriages at any state government entity.

I truly hope the gays decide not to take the Churches to court. That will push their public support back into the stone ages in Oklahoma.

(10-06-2014 07:07 PM)EverRespect Wrote:  “The Supreme Court’s decision to let rulings by lower court judges stand that redefine marriage is both tragic and indefensible,” said Sen. Cruz. “By refusing to rule if the States can define marriage, the Supreme Court is abdicating its duty to uphold the Constitution. The fact that the Supreme Court Justices, without providing any explanation whatsoever, have permitted lower courts to strike down so many state marriage laws is astonishing.

“This is judicial activism at its worst. The Constitution entrusts state legislatures, elected by the People, to define marriage consistent with the values and mores of their citizens. Unelected judges should not be imposing their policy preferences to subvert the considered judgments of democratically elected legislatures.

“The Supreme Court is, de facto, applying an extremely broad interpretation to the 14th Amendment without saying a word – an action that is likely to have far-reaching consequences. Because of the Court’s decision today, 11 States will likely now be forced to legalize same-sex marriage: Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Utah, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming. And this action paves the way for laws prohibiting same-sex marriage to be overturned in any state.

“It is beyond dispute that when the 14th Amendment was adopted 146 years ago, as a necessary post-Civil War era reform, it was not imagined to also mandate same-sex marriage, but that is what the Supreme Court is implying today. The Court is making the preposterous assumption that the People of the United States somehow silently redefined marriage in 1868 when they ratified the 14th Amendment.

“Nothing in the text, logic, structure, or original understanding of the 14th Amendment or any other constitutional provision authorizes judges to redefine marriage for the Nation. It is for the elected representatives of the People to make the laws of marriage, acting on the basis of their own constitutional authority, and protecting it, if necessary, from usurpation by the courts.

“Marriage is a question for the States. That is why I have introduced legislation, S. 2024, to protect the authority of state legislatures to define marriage. And that is why, when Congress returns to session, I will be introducing a constitutional amendment to prevent the federal government or the courts from attacking or striking down state marriage laws.

“Traditional marriage is an institution whose integrity and vitality are critical to the health of any society. We should remain faithful to our moral heritage and never hesitate to defend it.”

When the people pass unconstitutional laws...even if by a 3 to 1 margin...it's the courts job to strike it down.

Maybe you missed it. The Supreme Court didn't make that decision.

So, expect this to happen. No more marriage licenses in Oklahoma. Tell your roommate the move to OK is off.
