Cincinnati and South Florida need to get some fans who will go to games. Syracuse, Pitt, and UConn will have better attendance figures as they improve. Louisville and Rutgers will continue to grow as their facilities are improved and expanded. I expect Rutgers will one day take the lead, but right now Louisville is poised for the biggest leap. They should pass WVU in a couple of years, unless Mountianeer field is expanded more than the proposals submitted so far. But overall, attendance figures like these for a BCS conference do not look good.

As far as UC goes I think Kelly is really going to help. He is very enthusiastic and persuasive. However our stadium is only 35k so even if we sell out the season we can only go so high. I think once Kelly has us rolling averaging 32k is realistic.

That would sure beat 20,000. It would be a great start.

next year we'll see a jump in our attendance with wva, ucf, louisville, and unc at home, attendance should be around 40,000, w/ hopefully no noon games. but agreed usf needs to get better at this, winning will bring fans.

According to the Tampa Tribune on-line USF's actual average attendance for 2006 season was 24,775. And, "[t]his season, USF averaged 4,773 students a game, nearly 3,000 fewer than last season."

Who would have ever thought there would be a day where Rutgers would outdraw Syracuse and be considered the better program....

Well I'm sure there were some Rutgers fans like myself who knew it could happen.

No, you could never say that Dantonio is enthusiastic. Dantonio is a good on the field coach but offers nothing as far as selling the program off the field. It is a night and day difference from Dantonio to Kelly. Major uprgade in my opinion.

USF is a work in progress. Most of our alumni went to school without an attachment to attending sporting events. We had basketball for 34 years.
But didnt play on campus until 1980-81 season.
Football didnt start until 1997.
So the tradition is NOT there yet. We need big wins to start capturing the eyes of the alumni, locals and student body.
But our numbers are increasing
Last Four years USF has avgd over 31,000
Previous four years about 25,500
Next years schedule should get USF close to 40,000 a game, unless our games are switched to midweek for TV.
USF started from scratch something many seem to forget when talking attendance figures

and that actually hurts because of all the Pro-games people can support instead of the university. Many of our alumni are Bucs season tix so see college football as a a minor league.

If we look at the schools that "added football" recently, USF has done incredibly well. They have a good school, enough students, and the Bulls are in their second bowl. They have a growing fan base and ten years from now no one will care if they fudge attendence numbers today.
UAB has its challenges but has experienced success. UAB is still struggling with a fanbase. That said, they are surviving despite what it appears what UAT is doing to their program.
In addition, UConn may be the most successful team to move up from 1-AA. I don't think it is surprising. UConn created a basketball program, has enough support to build what is required to win the Big East, and has BCS money.

Im not sure why people think USF fakes attendance numbers? USF has ALWAYS stated that their numbers are tickets sold + students NOT butts in seats.
UCF is now doing the same, after their fans criticize us for years.
Sometimes it feels like people focus more on the stands than whats happenning on the field.
UM has weak support but kicking peoples behind is what made them National champs.
