I'm 37, married with two boys who are 12 and 8. Recently moved to a suburb of Atlanta, prior to that had lived 21 years in Statesboro, GA (home of THE Georgia Southern University). Bounced around as a kid doing 5 years each in Ohio, Michigan, and Nevada before we settled in Georgia. I work in higher education administration on the financial side, and have previously worked in local government doing the same kind of thing. My dad is a college professor and my mom is a retired librarian, they are pretty big liberals and raised me that way. I have definitely moved to the right of where my parents are, but not a Republican, I identify as an Independent. I'm pretty liberal on social issues, more conservative on fiscal ones; I generally just want political leaders who will work together and compromise to get things done that help the country (what a pipe-dream right?). My hobbies are keeping up with Georgia Southern athletics, hanging out with my family, and trying to be active and live a healthier lifestyle (mostly unsuccessfully).

Welcome to the board.

Figured I's add to this since I only recently started posting in this area. Name is Aaron DuShaun Corbett, hence the screen name, from Louisville KY. I have a BS in Mass Communication and Political science from the University of Maryland, and a BS from Excelsior College in Insurance and Risk Management (truly a BS degree: I don't even know where the college is, but was given credit with a combination of work courses and my regular school courses).

I am from and live in Louisville, KY, where I currently work as a mortgage broker. I'd be hard to describe politically, as I like a little of this here, and a little of that there, and am all over the board.

Nth generation South Carolinian who grew up all over world courtesy Uncle Sam. Proud of Southern heritage with direct ancestors on both sides who served CSA, and of mine and my family's military service, but have become increasingly liberal as I get older (I'm in my 50s). Hobbies are piddling in the yard, avoiding my wife's honey do list, fishing and college football, especially that played my alma mater Georgia Southern and my former school, University of South Carolina -- (was born and bred as a Gamecock and the plan was I graduate from USC, but I quit to join the Army).

Also an avid runner and after 20 years in journalism am now 'editor' of a small independently owned magazine company. Goal is to finish a novel by the end of the year. It's been 30 years in the writing.

My name is bullet and currently live in Georgia. Its actually an old nickname that nobody I regularly see now uses. I'm in my 50s and moved around a lot as a kid, having lived in 30 different houses in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Texas. My parents were born and raised in Texas so I consider myself a Texan. I am a CPA and got my BBA from the University of Texas and am married with 2 kids. I'm also a Georgia fan as my spouse is an alum. Grew up and still a Kentucky fan from my elementary years in Lexington, Kentucky. Also had a sister attend UK and my mother worked there.

For hobbies I run and have done several marathons. I used to play chess regularly as with an earlier poster, but it took too much time to continue to play as well as I would like. Politically I'm a pragmatic conservative and a Republican. I'm socially conservative, but not a "social conservative." Politics has a lot of higher priorities.

RE: Introduce yourself here: Who are you? What do you do? What is your background?
I waited for everyone to post their bio as I like to be the diva that comes walking down the staircase by myself. So here's mine:
I'm probably the oldest here, hench, the wisest. Shut up Stinky.

I'm 67 and in two months I'll be 68. Whew, that's a lot. I've lived a full life (very full) and if the Good Lord took me today there would be no regrets. I live by the Bible verse that says, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".

I starting working when I was around 9 delivering newspapers and on Thursdays they were heavier than me, and it's a wonder my little skinny, spindly legs could carry the bag. I also shined shoes going from bar room to bar room asking the drunks if they wanted a shoe shine. It was especially embarrassing shining the ladies shoes because in the olden days they wore skirts. I wanted to look but I was too shy. Cochino.

I had a short story published in a national magazine so I guess that makes me an author. I've won an Honorable Mention award in a national fire prevention contest so I guess that makes me an artist. LOL I love to read anything especially non-fiction, I devour that genre. I love music and I carry my I-pod with MY music everywhere and anytime.

I joined the Air Force at 18 during the Viet Nam War as my brothers were all A.F. veterans. I instilled the love of country to my kids as they both are veterans too and one stayed to retire as a Marine. I also was in the Navy Reserve for about 8 years, on and off.

While in the Air Force I worked on T-37s, T-38s, (stateside) and EB-66s in SEA, Takhli and Korat Air Bases. I always worked in a hangar and not out in the flight line.

I started working at EP Int'l Airport as a aircraft refueler/crash, fire, rescue man in 1971 and after 30 years retired to the good life. I've been retired for almost 15 years. I'm proud to say that I put out my first aircraft fire in Thailand even before I became a professional firefighter. I got a big thank you from the two striper in the cockpit running the engines. No award for it though.

I'm the chauffer, gardener, and general do it yourselfer for my wife except plumbing. I'm like Dagwood Bumstead, every time he works on plumbing it costs more to unfix his screw ups so I stay off that.

God comes first in my life (I wish I was born again at an earlier age as He had to forgive me for a lot of bad things). I lean fiscally and socially conservative. It pains me to see homosexuality as I know it's wrong but I'm not the one to judge them. They, like me, when I was younger know better and it's their job like it was mine to change my sinful ways. I hate that the government wants to shove others beliefs down our throats and then tell us we're the bad guys. I hate it that todays young folk don't take responsibility for their actions and try to pin their recklessness on others.

The "only" president that I haven't been able to stomach is obama (and it's not because he's Black). From the very beginning I believed he was wrong for our country. Thank God he only has a few months to go. I'd even favor Hillary over him and that's pretty bad in itself. Oh well, I can only vote and hope for the best man to win and that isn't Tramp either. Or Bernie.

RE: Introduce yourself here: Who are you? What do you do? What is your background?
I am originally from Southwestern Pa., 35 miles Southeast of Pittsburgh and 25 miles north of Morgantown, WV.

I am the son, nephew and grandson of coal miners. My paternal grandfather was born and raised in County Sligo, Ireland and my maternal grandfather was born and raised in Essen, Germany. My grandmothers were also from Ireland and Alsace-Lorraine, respectively.

My parents were the first generation born in America.

I am a dual citizen of the USA and the Republic of Ireland. I visit the latter often, the latest being three visits in less than the last five years.

My wife and I talk about retiring to Ireland and we may just go ahead and do that. The only negative is that our children are here. We shall see.

I am a third generation Notre Dame fan, with my Dad (born in 1900) and Grandfather (born in 1864) becoming ND fans in 1913 when they read about ND beating Army with the forward pass.

Since then, all of my uncles, aunts, cousins, siblings, nieces, nephews and children have also been ND fans. It is a family tradition passed down to all, without exception.

I am also a lifelong Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I tend not to pay too much attention to any games not involving ND, the Pirates and the Steelers.

My Dad dropped out of school at age 13 to be a breaker boy in the coal mines to help support his Mom, Dad and 10 siblings.

My Dad developed Black Lung Disease working in the mines and survived his retirement years from age 67 to age 85 only because of Federal Black Lung benefits and Social Security.

My Mom will be 100 years old in December and she still gets Social Security and Black Lung benefits.

I was only able to attend college because of Federal grants and was only able to attend law school because of Federally backed Guaranteed Student Loans.

I would consider myself to be the biggest hypocrite in the world if, after taking advantage of Federal programs to climb the socioeconomic ladder, I would advocate pulling that ladder up so others could not make the same climb.

I am a progressive Democrat. A pretty damn hard core one, at that. I am very liberal on both social and economic issues.

I grew up in a strong labor union supporting, blue collar family. I have never forgotten where I came from or how I was able to move up the ladder due to "liberal" Federal programs.

I witnessed first hand as a child/teenager the way large corporations can wreak havoc on people and an area when the coal companies pulled out of the Southwestern Pa. area after mining all the coal but leaving environmental carnage and other damage behind them.

I have practiced law for 29 years. I am 58 years old. I have three grown children. Two are engineers and one is a nurse. So, I think that I (and they) have been hard working, contributing members of society.

My brother fought and was wounded in Vietnam. Two of my nephews fought and were also wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. One nephew had three combat deployments and was awarded two Bronze Stars. My son was a Marine, as was my father-in-law.

All in all, I am pretty sure that my views on religion and politics would not be very popular here. I am not a big fan of religion in the public square and am not a fan of conservative policies and beliefs.

To steal Kaplony's eloquent phrase: "That's who I am. Piss on you if you don't like it." :)

Anyway, that is my bio. Take care.

Not even close. Am 79 and can still run about 100 WPM on the keyboard. Learned that in the trucking industry while in college. Been doing it ever since.

Just say I'm a Goldwater/Reagan Republican and proud of it. Been so all my adult life. Worked in two Reagan Governor campaigns and two Reagan Presidential campaigns.

"Raise your expectations, vote Republican" ! ! I always have. Never voted for a liberal ever.

Been to all the lower 48 and Alaska. I had a music scholarship at the U of Memphis and worked in three truck lines some 30-40 hours a week. Graduated with a business degree major in marketing and minor in transportation. I have been in the USAF 6+ years (SAC and PACAF) Headquarters SAC , Offutt AFB, NB. Been to Vietnam, Greenland, Iceland and was involved in the major appliance industry for some 20 + years. Owned my own printing company for 12+ years. Been a member of the Kappa Alpha order since 1957 and still work with the order. It's a grand ole gang ! ! Born in Memphis, TN. Lived in Evanston, Il Lived in Los Altos Hills, CA, Evergreen, CO and Arlington, TN.

Been retired since 2000. It's been a long life and for the most part a very good one.

There's more, but this is enough.

Go Tigers ! ! !

Won't go too much into my story but if anyone wants to see me in person, I'll be on the TV show 'To Tell The Truth' Sunday night on ABC. I won't divulge which contestant I am (although I am not in the 'I taught Miley Cyrus how to twerk' segment), but a couple Rice folks probably will recognize me if they see me that night.

wisconsin became my dream school once my parent's split up at the end of my freshman year at uc. but i knew i didn't have the grades to transfer there as college was a bit of an awakening for me. i was more than adequately unprepared. a mostly straight a high school student who grew to depend upon getting a c. i never felt more proud to get a b as they were few and far between. i got an a- once. i was born in north dakota but i never had the desire to go to school there like you

where do you live in wisconsin?
