RE: Does ECU fall today?
Wow I almost look like I knew what I was talking about for once. I was right on with Oklahoma, wish they would have fell one more spot. You look at the teams ahead of us and their case is only going to get stronger for being ahead of us if everyone keeps winning. I think everyone ranked 11-12 or better could lose and stay ahead of ECU so gonna start looking at who spots 13-17 have coming up on their schedule. Gonna be hard to climb much higher than that unless things go haywire in the top 12.

I think we have reached a point where we are more likely to get jumped than to jump anyone. Need to start looking IMPRESSIVE in wins.

If by impressive you mean blowing the doors off someone, its not likely to happen. Ruff is a nice guy through and through and he'll call of the dogs early as he normally does. We dropped 70 on UNC but I think that was an anomaly, the heels couldn't stop anything.

We all know that Ruff is a "sportsman" and for the most part I'd say that is the right way to play the game, but if mauling a team in the day of the college playoff is the difference between going to Miami or going to Atlanta and letting the Herd or another team pass us in the polls, then Ruff may need to destroy first and apologize later.

The 4 SEC West schools are going to beat up on one another. Best case is Ole Miss or Miss State going undefeated meaning Alabama and Auburn both having AT LEAST 2 losses and one of the Miss schools has at least one lost.

Bye is one heck of an opponent for a non-cartel 5 school.

Fell a spot but actually gained a lot of points in coaches.

On the realignment board this was something we talked about a lot, because it happened to UCF and Louisville last year. Both had one loss, and got stuck in the 15-20 range, and watched as teams who won passed them, and simply swapped places. That was not the MO in the past, not the BE, nor other non-BCS conferences, but last year, at least for the AAC, that was the case. One loss puts a glass ceiling on the ratings. Otherwise UCF should have been top ten.

As for gaining votes, the good thing about that is that it means that some lot of the voters dropped the teams ahead who lost below you, and not as many moved up the teams behind you. The bad news is you received more votes because every team below tenth lost votes and the rankings from teams 10-18 are more jumbled. Normally this would be good, but because the teams around have more room to grow, it is a bad thing. I am basing it on watching how this unfolded last year - remember last year, UCF fans had a keen interest in seeing NIU go up the polls, so they could go to the Orange Bowl. And UofL fans, we were hoping for the long shot of Big 12 and SEC teams stuffing the top ten, us squeezing in at number 12, and getting an "auto" BCS bid by attrition (only two teams per conference allowed, would have essentially made any top 12 team an automatic bid by default). Then we saw what happened to all three teams, and how UCF and UofL never moved up in the rankings, and watched NIU pass both of us (BCS rankings).

The positive though is a lot of the teams are Big 12 teams who play each other, meaning some will lose.

Just remember: UCF was 2-1 vs. the Top 10 last year, with our sole loss by 3 to USC, and the dolt voters still barely squeezed us into the Top 10 after routing the Big 12 champion in the Fiesta Bowl.

It's awful.
