I would love to see 40K there on Saturday. I also promised not to feed the troll. I think Fitbum is simply planting the seeds to have something to mock and/or complain about next Saturday. For the first time in probably a century, the UTEP football team literally left nothing for us to complain about so the trolls have to project to next week.

He's not only predictable but usually wrong. Attendance was 24,673 which looked about right. The Press box side was easily 2/3 full. The end zone was 1/2 to 2/3 full. The visiting side was 1/4 to 1/3 full. Not the best crowd but far from a bad one.

24k might have been the "official" attendance but there is no way they had more than 20k.

I think the attendance count was correct. While 24k would be great for some programs it does show a lack of fan support for at 5-3 UTEP team.

24k might have been the amount of tickets sold but there wasn't 24k in attendance.

Who cares about attendance? I never heard anyone talk about it until about 2000 or so. It's so irrelevant. Doesn't indicate much at all. Doesn't tell you whether a school has money or history- look at Miami, SMU, or UH. Doesn't tell you whether a program has a future; USM always outdraws Tulane but they're the program with a future. Doesn't even tell you if the team's good. Our 2011 team drew something like 29,500 for 12 wins, and then we opened 2012 as an awful team in front of 35,000. And we were an awful team with no future because ATTENDANCE DOES NOT MATTER. At all. For any purpose. Hell, ECU supposedly draws 50,000 and they're not even the most popular team in their own ZIP code.

When it comes to UTEP, I am not sure what they go by. Maybe I will ask 'local radio' today. Of all CUSA teams, UTEP's crowd most resemble the announced attendance.

Our attendance sucks this year, but You either didn't go to one, if not both games, are flat out lying or just playing ignorant.

My ticks are on the press box side, but for the ODU game I sat in the student section because we had a bunch of friends come in for the centennial and that is where we always sat while attending school. I watched the highlights of the ODU game and the only difference between the ODU game and the USM game was the student section, and it wasn't like the student section was half full for the ODU game. The rest of the stadium was about the same for both games.

I don't think anyone here is talking about attendance in those terms. No one is saying the only thing that's keeping us from being a national power is not drawing 40K+ for Southern Miss. This is more of a support and appreciation issue. We're now on a three game win streak and probably playing our best football in a decade. We just came off of one of the most dominant performances in program history....on the road no less. And, this is what I saw last Saturday:



Do you have to go on to your other hand to count the people in the frame? I don't think so. I can remember sitting in a cold, wind-driven Sun Bowl while a 1-7 UTEP team was struggling to get by Valdosta State and seeing more people in the stands than this.

Wrong

The Miner side of the ODU game was almost completely full except for the corners. On the other side, the bottom half of the stadium was also full.

For the Southern Miss game, the Miner side has lots of empty patches and the other side was practically empty except for maybe four sections in the lower middle.
