eventually will have to be completely replaced.

That will be a big chunk of the 28 million.

Seems like a new arena might be of similar cost. Wouldn't be sad to see that at all

The actual Master Plan Document is below. Diagrams very helpful in envisioning all of the changes. Also not really brought up on this board is the improved pathways for getting to and fro the facilities including athletics facilities.

WOW! That plan looks even better than I could imagine. It's going to be exciting in Williamsburg these next few years

I wish they were a little more clear about what year this stuff would take place.

Love the idea of having another cafe on campus, as well as opening up a spirit shop.

I concur. Master Plan looks great. Kudos to all involved.

Does this mean that tailgating will eventually return to the field behind the west stands when the football team relinquishes that field?

Great plan that extends out for twenty years...funding, of course, will determine pace of
these very positive changes at our great university.

College is already garnering major donations to headline launch announcement of one billion dollar fund raising program in 2015. The 27 million for our Zable Stadium project is a part of this ambitious program.

The field behind the west stands is named The Montgomery Family Football Practice Field (may not be exact) . To have something like this named means some $$$$s were donated and if so , wouldn't some sort of permission by The Montgomery Family be needed to turn it into a recreation field ?

Just saw an article regarding the Commonwealth's budget and how it impacted The Peninsula and 4+ million for CNU for athletics facilities and no details were given.

I wonder how many times the Gift from Walter Zable has been counted in the fundraising totals for that fundraising year, and/or Campaign????

There have been two separate major Zable gifts...the ten million to launch the Laycock Football Building project and the twenty million (ten for the football stadium) in his recent bequest.

These do not count many other smaller donations through the years.

The recent twenty million goes towards the new fund-raising effort launching next year.

Every major fund-raising program launches with the announcement of major gifts
accumulated previous to the start of the new one (in this case, I believe a billion dollar fund-raising effort for W&M) to provide initial impetus.

When they finally announce they'll be others besides the 20m from Walt Zable. It creates
an aura of positive PR to encourage new donations.

If they are going to remove the track AND build a new Health and Wellness center, Why dont they build that on the north end of Sadler, inside the stadium, in a way that could possibly accommodate endzone seating addition/suites in the future? This building could then house the Sports Medicine Dept/Trainers as well. Would prefer that to their plan of demolishing the lodges to build it outside of the stadium.

Is it too late to put the track around the soccer stadium field? Is JMU really this much better at facility design?03-phew03-nutkick

I meant to say something about this earlier. Kudos to him for digging up a 3 1/2 yo thread to add to the subject. Warms my heart.

New BOV Rector, not sure if that will change much about the plans, but his son is an incoming freshman and he is not an alum.
