Adding Army for BBall?? Why chase a program that is middle of the pack in a conference (the Patriot) that ranks below CUSA in BBall?

Army at around 205 RPI, 195 Sagarin is not the kind of program that would be a boost to CUSA BBall.

The idea that Army (or Navy) would withdraw its non-football athletics from the Patriot League is just dumb.

Have heard that from multiple people, including people who work for the Mayor.

The Turner field property is a home run for GaSt on the academic side. I just have my doubts if the actual stadium is an asset to GaSt. It's 20 years old, way too big for GaSt, the maintenance costs would be a nightmare and significant renovations would run in the tens of millions of dollars.

The ideal situation would be to move the campus to Turner and build a new stadium that is more appropriate. I just think the renovation and maintenance costs of Turner make it difficult financially.

I am not sure where to start. You sound like the Falcons in saying that 20 years is too old. LOL. The stadium will be reconfigured for football. The high level plan was for 30k seats. I would push for 35k to 40k to make it attractive for a P5 home and home. It was never the idea to play in it as is. As for maintenance costs, I am not worried because President Becker isn't. Moving the campus to Turner Field? I am not sure you have been downtown in the last 15 years. GSU takes up at least 50 square blocks of downtown Atlanta. The Ted property will be an addition to the whole. We have a lot current problems in football. We have zero problems on the academic side and have $1.5B in building projects underway and own $7B in downtown real estate. We are not divesting from the central core just so some people can be comfortable with us looking like a traditional school in the countryside and money isn't one of our problems.

IMHO Georgia's St should be #14 in CUSA. The problem is that puts 8 teams in the East and 6 in the west. What do we do for east/west balance? Put WK or MT in the west, I hope not. I guess I want my cake and have it too.

Nobody from the MAC, MWC, or AAC is moving to CUSA, there's just not enough money to justify them moving. So do we pull an (SEC Missouri to the East) and put GS in the CUSA west, and would they move to the conference under those circumstances? By the way I want GS in the east for a regional rivalry. Eat my cake and have it too. I have been against another Sunbelt team coming to CUSA, but with the UAB situation a SB team could add value.

Maybe it's time to consider the ACC approach, two teams from Texas, one Florida, LT, MT, Marshall, & Charlotte in one division; & GSU, two Texas, one Florida, SMU, WKU, & ODU in another. Annually Each team gets two set teams in the other division and a roaming team.
