I hope.......
This board can stay fun and positive. because I'm about to be done with Flames Fans negativity and nonsense. For a Christian school, there sure are a lot of non-Christian sentiments thrown around. At the end of the day these boards are for discussing sports not life or death. Just tired of folks trashing real people. Time to call is Flames Gossip.

RE: I hope.......
My first experience with Flame Fans was so negative that I'm never going to be a member of that website and I stopped following Flames Nation when they "aligned" with Flame Fans. I'm happy that this board is friendly and welcoming and I hope it stays that way.
I saw on Twitter someone named "FireLayer" or something to that effect. People keep tweeting at Chris Lang about when Layer is going to be fired. Can't we be better than that? I understand how frustrated we are and how underachieving we are but we don't have to stoop to the level that our program is playing at.

KH, I have read your post here for 2+ years. You've always been level headed and passionate for your team and school. When I read the other schools bbs here, especially those in VA, I'm hoping we LU fans can develop the same numbers of followers and fans on our board. Having all these fans from rival schools on this bbs able to read, agree and disagree, adds an extra dimension to this LU bbs that no single bbs can offer. We're able to get almost immediate feedback from other teams fans.
When we disagree we can be civil and respectful without being negative. You have much to offer and their loss will be our gain.
And lastly, streamed the LU Costal game last night. Really enjoyed about 10 minutes when the Flames were playing well. With Rettic'a foot injury, even I have cooled and calmed with the let's make a change now sentiment.

RE: I hope.......
FN/FF is annoying. When I read it I see a bunch of people agreeing with each other over stuff they should actually disagree with. Disagreeing with people and having a intelligent conversation about it is very productive. Reading a bunch of inside jokes doesn't exactly make anyone new feel like chatting. And I get it....BJ has OCD and Purple is the self proclaimed Dark Lord of the Sith.

RE: I hope.......
What I found frustrating is they very seldom talk sports. The inside jokes and the inability to disagree without being called names has really turned me off. I do like any recruiting info I can get over there and that's basically the only really I ever brouse over there. Recently I saw where a certain poster called Layer a fool. Just totally uncalled for. I hope we get a few new posters here that can be civil and really want to talk LU sports.

RE: I hope.......
This thread proves to me that this place has potential. Thanks for the encouragement. The Layer bashing threads have crossed the line for me big time. The fool comment and the comment about me losing my credibility because I defend Layer really broke the camels back for me. Let's all agree to keep this place more positive. And yes the constant BJ and other jokes are way old.

On a lighter note, I see your location is outer Mongolia. How's that commute?

I re-read the posts about eating crow on the JMU site where you and I were razzing and being razzed upon by the JMU folks before and after the playoff game. Lots of mostly good give and take and there was, in the end, mostly respect and well wishes from the JMU fans and we expressing the same to them. Lots of them were/are looking forward to coming LU this September. With our board growing, that should be quite a lead-in to the game and we'll continue to develop this LU board with insightful comment, news, commentary and sports talk.

I'll leave that to others. At this point, I just want the team to play as hard as they can, to win what they can, and build for a new coach next year.

RE: I hope.......
Just read the fire layer thread. That's exactly why I refuse to post over there. I know nothing about the owners of the site, but I'll share my experience. My name is the same as a former wr from liberty. He goes by Pat, I go by Patrick. I had posted for a couple years, not often but occasionally. After the losses added up last year in fb i asked the question "is TG the man for the job?". I wanted some good dialogue. The past wr I share a name with has a brother that's currently on the team. The coaching staff goes to the current player and asked what's up with his brother. Pat writes a thread basically saying it wasn't him, but someone who shared his name. So the end result is I was told my name was being deactivated and I needed to apply with a different name. I was none to happy about it. Manson was cool through the process, but still I thought it was uncalled for and unnecessary. My first thought was why are the coaches reading a message board?

RE: I hope.......
Seems like we could get a few of the common sense posters to post over here. Vagolf would not be one of them.

RE: I hope.......
Wow, I think I remember that. Crazy stuff.
I'll be honest and say that my disappointment stems from knowing that board much differently. It used to be great years ago. A lot of the old guard is gone for various reasons and the new guard is very negative. Also no one seems to moderate anything or enforce any rules. Just a sad representation of Lu fans. Most are not like that.

That's why I'd rather not go over there advertising this site.

RE: I hope.......
I do think we need a new MBB Coach. He is paid a wage to do a job and he is fullifying that aspect of his position. Losing a ton of games means he isn't doing his job that well. From what I hear he's a standup type of guy that does the right thing and that is fantastic. D1 sports isn't the place to keep someone solely based off of positive intangibles. After this season is over LU should put out some feelers for a new coach. Sucking at MBB isn't doing us any favors to secure a FBS a invite. Folks forget that all sports matter for a conference invite not just FB. LU is shooting itself in the foot otherwise.

I think almost everyone agrees that layer needs to go after the season. It's just how/when it's done is the question.

Re: I hope.......
That is a crazy scenario for a coach to become involved in a bbs with fans. I now see the reason for some of the comments made here. When people can hide online with their comments they can have a lot more bravado than when face to face.
KH and I have had banter about the MBB program and actions to take. Our discussions have been challenging to each other without being dismissive or rude to the other. Nobody wants a forum where we all agree, but childish, irresponsible comments are best made elsewhere.
We've got momentum now with quality posters. Invite others who bring a perspective with value to join us. Once we move to Active we'll have a moderator who hopefully will maintain a level of civil dialogue without the antics. Let's keep this going.
