Campus Improvements
It's great to see all the wonderful improvements that are happening at LU. We are truly becoming an elite level institution.

New dorms means new growth for LU. Are we still hoping to reach 20,000 on campus enrollment by 2020? The nicest dorms I've seen (from the outside) were at ODU. They looked like small apartment communities, with the ground floor as retail area (places to eat, shop and hang out). It was really cool. There were nice little park areas as well. I'd like to see that replicated at LU to match the architectural direction that LU is headed.

And, I know it's a waste of money, but I'd like to see some iconic things on campus like fountains, statues, gardens... stuff like that.

RE: Campus Improvements
I always wanted LU's campus to have those sorts of apartment style dorm communities. It is not to late to do so for the south side and even expand on the south east side as well. Having iconic areas on campus is technically not a waste of money but an opportunity. It would be beneficial to show students, faculty/staff and visitors that they matter. I would say a professor wouldn't mind coming out of their academic building and take a nice lunch break at a park nearby with beautiful trees, a fountain and look at a beautiful scenery of the blue ridge mountains. On the flip side imagine scholar professor who may be threatened for doing their jobs at other schools and see the value and freedom of LU and consider tranferring to continue their practice. Just a thought lol. LU has made a big difference since I graduated nearly a decade ago. Unfortunately the growth has stalled a bit and it shouldn't have imo. I think this moment is the best time for LU to go back in construction more academic buildings, residential areas and other retail/commercial stores on campus. With how our society is portraying believers or anyone who are accused of being hateful to the twisted agenda, LU should be open arms with opportunities for people to consider moving to the LYH area to establish a new chapter [in their lives] and grow the school/community. It has already started a little bit, but I believe LU could do more by "practicing what they preach."

Someone knocked over the Sparky that was in front of Williams Stadium almost a year ago and my son said he still hasn’t been replaced.

What is an academic type?

Personally, I am fine with Jerry Prevo. He seems to be doing the right things. And I appreciate his faith first leadership. That is what Liberty is about….. Training Champions for Christ.

Its a president with a Doctorate in something that isn't from a Seminary. I'm not saying its a lesser degree or path. What I am saying is for a President that runs a schools that pumps out way more non-seminary degrees a year it would be more advantageous for the person to be more well rounded. We are a school first and schools do more than teach they do research and get grants for said research and worry about academic type things. Him being a pastor for 47 years in Alaska does not give him the exp one might need to run a school. BUT I'm sure he has folks doing all the bussinessy type stuff and he lays low and doesn't embarrass the school like Jerry did. He would not be my pick but he is a good improvement over what we had so I'll take that any day.

RE: Campus Improvements
I saw an article today that LU is revitalizing and improving the “LU” monogram overlooking campus. It will match the official school branding.

From a letter I received today.

“This week, we will be announcing several exciting enhancements to Williams Stadium coming this fall. Be on the lookout.”

Ian McCaw
Director of Athletics

Oh….. and the previously mentioned new monogram is complete and looks great.

The announcement came out. The endzone gets some seating. Still areas where fans sit on grass. I'm guessing it is the next step before placing formal seating.

RE: Campus Improvements
-West side of stadium is going to all chairback seating. - Great move!
-East side is expanding bench back seating. - Good move.
-23 Cabanas with 8 seats each being added at south endzone above birm. - Great move.
- Birm is being terraced for people to sit on. - Great move!

There will be no real net gain in capacity due to chairbacks going in.
Season ticket prices have gone way up.

That’s the issue. Hopefully it will just take time to get the community to support the team. We are already winning, performing well in bowls, and have one of the nations best student sections. Occasionally we get a bigger name to come play us at Lynchburg.

Making it more affordable would help some. However, I think it's a bigger issue of LU being polarizing that gets a negative reaction from the locals. They are affected whether or not they want to be just because of their proximity to LU. It also doesn't help that UVA and VT are approximately one hour away.

RE: Campus Improvements
When an expansion to the stadium was rumored I was nervous we would add a bunch of seats to the endzone that would rarely get filled but this is way better than I expected. This renovation makes massive improvements to the fan experience (sitting on bleachers is very uncomfortable) and actually making the berm accessible to fans is the best of both worlds in terms of providing more seating options without feeling pressure to fill empty seats. Adding more premium seating is the future so we also take another step forward in that regard. I'm not sure if the school is looking to maximize profits with football but selling those 23 cabanas will be about the equivalent of selling over 750 chair back season tickets. Now they just need to step up their concessions game but they teased an announcement regarding that also.

Believe it or not, I am healthy enough, and have been given the green light from my doctors and unit to travel to Lynchburg in order to see my daughter graduate next month. Can’t wait to see what’s new going on at Liberty.
