RE: The AAC Needs Another Basketball Team!
Just saw on ESPN where the MVC has accepted Valparaiso as the replacement for WSU. This is so funny at how the MVC looks at themselves. In the end its a small potatoes conference without a big goal. I think WSU leaving won't be the last. What a lousy league its become.

Talk about a giant "nothing burger"!

WSU will officially enter the AAC on July 1st and will begin athletic participation as an AAC member (evidently) when Volleyball season begins. That's usually in August. It will be interesting to see if we get a slight spike in our VB attendance because WSU traditonally has one of the highest attendances in that sport in the nation. I've never been to a TU VB game, but might start going now - as long as it doesn't interfere with FB.

It looks like that will be the case for WSU. Their first AAC competititon (in VB) will be vs Temple on road Sept 22 and home contest vs USF Sept 29. They play TU VB in Wichita at 1pm Sunday, October 15th. That is the day after our BIG FB game versus Houston in Tulsa. So if you can make it, go to the FB at Chapman Saturday and make the drive to Wichita for the VB game Sunday. It will be in Koch Arena on the WSU campus.

So officially the shockers are members of the AAC as of July 1st.

RE: The AAC Needs Another Basketball Team!
I just checked the WSU MBB TV schedule and its a huge improvement over their MVC airtime. Over 20 games appear to be on the TV schedule on ESPN, CBSSN and on CBS-TV. Some very interesting games scheduled. Now that WSU is in the AAC, it has improved even our already excellent TV package and when the new contract is negotiated will increase payouts to everyone in the league.

25 games I counted on their schedule will be televised so far and some were on CBS-TV like a UCONN and Cincinnati game. And then comes the AAC tournament which gives more visibility to them on TV. Its going to be a lot of fun. :) All this helps recruiting and strength of the program in general, even the other non revenue sports.

Reminder. TU vs WSU volleyball in Wichita on Sunday (1pm) if anyone can make it. Our first competition with them in the AAC. If you go, it allows everyone to check out Koch arena without the massive crowds during a MBB game and the Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita for our neutral site game against KSU later on which also will host an NCAA MBB 1st and 2nd round this year (2018).

WSU has a nationally ranked womens VB team so far and they normally draw extremely well for that sport. 04-rock04-cheers02-13-banana

TU traveled to WSU today for a WVB match which was the first competition between the two as conference members. WSU is ranked #22 in the nation and beat our girls 3-0. WSU will probably win the AAC in volleyball.
