Thanks for the congratulations chiefsfan. Now the Sun Belt board can return the favor of Liberty posters over there.

I think if you did beat Georgia State, a few fans might wonder why we added Georgia State instead of a stronger FCS program.
But Chief they are going to bet better. I know they are down now, but they do have an upside. It's true that the LU-GaSt game is likely a bigger game for GaSt not to lose rather than for LU to win. But playing GaSt rather than Brevard, or Kentucky Wesleyan or Concord is a no brainer.

If you had the story of how Georgia State got into the league, you might understand why very few SBC leaders privately believe that Georgia State can catch up to the rest of us...
I do not know the specifics about how GaSt got into the SBC, and most of what I have read has been on this board. The essence of the move-up and acceptance seems to be the huge upside of the Atlanta market. Conversely, huge metro areas can swallow up colleges if they don't succeed. The U of Miami struggles with attendance and notoriety. Ironically, it's those colleges, in small town and rural settings where the school is the big dog, is where fan interest is highest. The sports networks want eyeballs, hence GaSt and Charlotte and ODU.

Thing is, most of our teams care very little about markets. We'd rather build with stronger programs and fan bases, and worry about market later.

Agree 100%. We should leave. The Herman Cain smile is implied. 04-cheers

For the record, The Furnace was the name of the original LU board before I launched Flames Fans a decade ago. To my knowledge, there is no schism between here and FlameFans. We're all Liberty folks.

Thanks the clarification. With your online experience, what's your thought on a slogan for this board?

Work for me. Any Liberty folks will get it. The question might be whether or not outsiders get it. And does that even matter?

Part of the logic was to get Flames in the slogan as to help identify LU and Furnace that's identifiable with the Vines. Flames and Furnance.

Hey you scrubs, welcome to the neighborhood!

Nah, j/k. I think you'll find a good home here and it was good of NEWTIMES to give us a heads up on the new board. Congrats, and already looking forward to the revenge game in Sept!

We'll have good banter and smack leading up to Sept. 26. This year we have a secret weapon, Curtisc83, a live-wire Flames Fan who we'll turn loose on some of the loose cannons of JMU, to join in the festivities.

Easy tiger! Let that anticipation and excitement build. I expect, and hope you to be like a rocket ship on hold, with full burners, ready to blast off when the JMU boys come calling. I'll have your back. It's gonna be fun to have some reinforcements this time around when serious smack talk starts.

Thanks for rolling out the welcome mat BB. We know this lovefest won't last long but it's nice so far.

We've been following the tough situation you guys are in. Hope it turns out for the best. The action taken by the admins of C-USA may determine your future, and possibly Liberty's. I remember the days when Gene Bartow took over the program and you became nationally known. Keep the chin up and thanks again for the howdy.
