The Noles beat UofL today. FSU and NC State play for the title tomorrow.

Did someone mess up and tell the hometwn UNC fans that it was a football game today?

We wanted the tournament played in Greensboro.

I'm not sold on Louisville as a national seed. An RPI now outside of the top 10 and an unspectacular SOS.

Great game between ND and Miami.

ND blew a 2-0 lead and was down 4-3 with two outs and two strikes in the top of the ninth.

ND scores two runs to take a 5-4 lead to the bottom of the ninth.

Miami scores twice to win 6-5. Curses.... Great game by Miami, they are a very good team.

Who would you replace them with? Every site I find has them as a secure National Seed. In fact, most seem to have Illinois as a secure national seed as well and they are also outside the rpi top 10 and have a SOS of 140, compared to UofL's 37.

Midwestern teams don't have the ability to play a top 75 RPI midweek opponent every week, so overall SOS is rarely going to be as high as more southern teams from their leagues. I would be very suprised if they are not a national seed as I don't see 8 more deserving resumes.

Congrats to FSU the 2015 acc tournament champs and to UofL for being best in the regular season. Go and win the CWS. I don't think UVa has a chance to go far this year in the ncaa tournament.

I don't know when they announce seeds or if they already did. But Illinois gets a seed because of years of big ten whining. Missouri state likely gets a seed. Ucla, uf, lsu, vandy (over tamu), Miami. That's 7.

I think it's FSU vs ul for 8. FSU has better rpi and sos. They were 2-2 on the season in road/neutral games against ul. FSU has as many top 25 and top 50 wins as any team in the country. Ul has the better conference record.

That's my thinking.

That's my thinking.

The regional hosts are announced at 9pm tonight, and I think they also announce which 8 of those are the National Seeds, but the National Seed announcement may not be until the full field is released at noon tomorrow on ESPNU.

FSU could grab one of the last few National Seeds and I wouldn't be very surprised, unless it was at the expense of Louisville. My thinking would be, is a team that won the regular season ACC (#2 league) and set an ACC record with 25 conference wins going to miss out on a National Seed? You brought up top wins, and that is frankly FSU's strongest selling point. Through Warren Nolan I can quickly compare Top 50 records. I'll rank by # of wins, then winning % when wins are equal:

19-10: Florida St
18-5: LSU
18-9: Louisville
18-12: Miami
16-9: Florida
14-7: Texas A&M
14-8: UCLA
13-3: Illinois
13-9: Vandy
9-4: Missouri St
8-8: Dallas Baptist
7-5: TCU

Everyone seems to agree the 8 national seeds come from among those 12. With that in mind, if the committee this year feels strongly about Top 50 wins, how do you include FSU in the 8 but not UofL, especially when the Cards were 8 games clear in league play.

If SOS is UofL's weak point, it's still better than the SEC teams I listed. Louisville's SOS is #36, while you have A&M (#49), LSU (#57), TCU (#78), Missouri St (#96), and Illinois (#143) behind in the comparison.

If I had to guess, the 8 will be Florida, Illinois, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Missouri St, & UCLA, with the final (#8 overall) being FSU or A&M.

You were also swept at home by Clemson. Louisville has won every ACC series they played. Also has the best record in the history of the league.

There should be nothing to debate here

As I said, one or the other will get a national seed. And Louisville, I don't believe, is a lock to get one. A week ago, sure. But not after the tournament.

Yep, looks like Louisville was a "bubble" national seed. I guess the 5 bubble national seed teams behind them were really sweating it out. Good call to the guy who said Louisville was a bubble national seed like the true bubble national seed in FSU.

No surprise as I felt 7 of those were close to National Seed locks. Surprised TCU is a national seed.

As I detailed above, UofL obviously was not even remotely on the National Seed bubble. They had one of the best resumes in he country.

7 regional bids for the ACC is not bad at all.

I think all 7 ACC teams have the potential to go deep. I think Clemson has an excellent shot at getting through the Fullerton Regional

RE: Open Thread - 2015 Baseball Season
North Carolina missing the field is the only potential surprise with the ACC bids.

Clemson was the last team in the field with UNC the first out. Interesting since UNC won a head to head match-up on Friday.
