So if ESPN were to say want Texas and Kansas into the ACC, The Gor could be adjusted and the Longhorn Network could become the ACC Network. Not saying that would happen but it would greatly enhance the ACC Footprint into SEC( Texas, Missouri) and B1G (Nebraska) country.as well as Great Football in Texas and a Final Four contender in Kansas in Basketball.04-cheers

That's right. I don't see any one P5 school moving anywhere if movement occurs. It will be a brokered large and comprehensive move of a conference if it takes place. By brokered I mean the networks involved and conferences involved will all get something out of it, and have to compromise on what they have to take to get it. The conferences might have to take schools that might be outside of their target zone, but which would provide some oblique benefit to them and the networks after gaining the content matches they desire would have to agree to pay the conferences for their compromise acquisitions. Otherwise we wait.

The only single moves that could happen under this system would be if a school chose for their own reasons to step down from the P5. It likely won't happen, but could, because there are a few schools where such a consideration will be pondered even if not acted upon.

Near the end of GOR's it could be any number of schools that could get another round of realignment started. We'll have to wait and see on that one.

There were a lot of lawyers on their conference realignment site back in the day when the Big 12 was falling apart. It doesn't look very active to me now though.

It's interesting to me that a) VPI has a realignment board, and b) it's being used.

I would agree with all these points from the v tech board:

http://chat.virginiatech.sportswar.com/m...123484.php

If UVA or V tech ever leave the acc, they are both joining the big 10 or sec or 1 to each since neither will stick around the acc if one of them left. I don't see UVA or UNC having any interest in leaving the ACC no matter the $ which will glue Vtech, Nc state and duke to the acc.

West: Nebraska, Iowa, mN, Wisconsin, NW, ILL
Central: IU, Purdue, Mich, MSU, tOSU, PSU
East: RU, UMD, UVA, VT, Duke, UNC

Play 5 division games plus 3 versus each other division for an 11game conference season and one "at large" game.

Assuming the B1G makes so much money they can land anyone, how about pods of 6 with 4 divisions :

Big 24
-----
East
-----
Duke
Georgia Tech
Maryland
North Carolina
Virginia
Virginia Tech

Central
-----
Michigan
Michigan State
Notre Dame
Ohio State
Penn State
Rutgers

North
-----
Illinois
Indiana
Minnesota
Northwestern
Purdue
Wisconsin

West
-----
Iowa
Kansas
Missouri
Nebraska
Oklahoma
Texas

With one exception, I believe these are the schools the Big Ten would want. I believe they would take Pitt instead of Virginia Tech, however. Then I would align the pods a little differently, for competitive balance:

East: Duke, Georgia Tech, Maryland, UNC, Notre Dame and Virginia

Central: Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, Rutgers

North: Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Wisconsin

West: Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas

................................................................................................................

There are currently 53 schools in the B1G, ACC, SEC and Big 12 combined. If the SEC matched the Big Ten and went to 24 schools, that would mean that 5 schools would have to be left out. Who would they be?

Disclaimer: I don't believe any of this would happen.

Question: does anybody know if existing media contracts for the ACC or Big 12 have a clause prohibiting those leagues from dissolving during the term of the contract?

Fat fingers? More like the "No Child Gets Ahead" policies of education coupled with the inability to tell the little critters that they are wrong even when they are, all married with mobile devices that encourage personalized abbreviations. The lack of precision in any language is a hallmark of a civilization's decline. I wish I had a nickel for every word that spell check tried to misapply. Take care, Bit.

So you attribute it all to Error ID10T? I could buy that one too. It makes sense. 04-cheers

Texas & friends to the PAC. The SEC grabs 2 more eastern schools (NC & VA?). The B1G will continue the poaching by getting UNC & VA (Maybe GT & FSU too).

The ACC is left to put their "backfill in motion" to borrow a phase from Cameo by adding UConn, Cincinnati, West Virginia, UCF, USF, Memphis, Georgetown (bb) and Villanova (bb). Big East Redux.
