If Liberty can get some brand recognition and positive exposure in Texas, that could be huge for someone like the Sun Belt who only currently has Texas State as a football member (UT-Arlington as non-football member). I don't think it is probable, or even likely, that this helps Liberty go FBS but they haven't gotten an invite yet and without changing anything then they probably wouldn't get an invite moving forward either. This Dallas based satellite campus may have something to do with the Baylor and North Texas games that have been scheduled in football and what Sly had to say.
Interesting point. If this satellite campus in Dallas turned out to be an attraction to aid in FBS acceptance, I would have lots of crow to eat. On the surface, indications seems it would diminish the academic profile that LU is building. As ArmyMike has said, as an online grad, he is not happy with the decision. It's easy to see his point and agree. I hope it helps rather than hinders. If it hinders, it's a major setback, likely meaning it will take years for LU to recoup. I hope I am wrong.

RE: Liberty University Online settles on Dallas for satellite campus
I just posted an article in a new thread. Read it and it gives you a better understanding of the structure involved in LU Online's success. Our school has been approached multiple times over the years to build campuses in places like Atlanta, Chicago and most recently Massachusetts. We have always rebuffed the opportunities in order to focus on our Lynchburg campus. This is a distinct step away from that mindset because in spite of assertions in this thread, Texas is a huge market for LU. Not only do we have a ton of current LU Online students in the Metroplex but it is also perhaps our fastest growing market. The idea as expressed in the N&A article explains that it is not trying to be a full campus experience like University of Phoenix has everywhere. But it is more of service center and possible intensive location. I admit that I am a bit surprised at this step and I am anxious to see what they have planned. If they like the results, I would expect locations in strong Evangelical markets like Houston, Atlanta & Tampa to follow.
