C-USA needs a ESPN TV deal
hate to say it but I think this is what C-USA needs. I think they should take a ESPN TV deal even if its a low ball deal.

I'd rather be on FS1, FSN, FCS, CBSSN, and ASN than ESPN3 and some Tuesday night football. Stay on Fox and hope that FS1, FS2, FCS one day approach ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU.

RE: C-USA needs a ESPN TV deal
Basketball coverage has to improve.

CUSA needs to split games between wednesday and thursday nights, and occassional early week games as well, for better spread of the brand and more exposure of its teams. The network isnt as important as frequently and consistently displaying the programs.

The A10 and American are light years ahead in that regard.

C-USA needs a ESPN TV deal
Big East has 7 of 10 teams headed to the tournament and how often do you hear of them?

I guess I'd be OK with Fox/CBS is we had more than one game on there every week or two. When was the last time there was a televised Saturday game not on ASN (which, quite frankly, barely counts)?

Basketball coverage could be better. I was happy with football coverage.

No no no no no no no no no no no no no. No to ESPN. They do not give a crap about us. We would not see increased ratings, or exposure, and we would be relegated to ESPN 3 at best. We should push forward to try and get more exposure with Fox or NBC, because with those TV stations, we actually have a chance

Why would people not want ESPN as a partner?ECU hoops and football recieved more national exposure from ESPN this year than ever before.Heck as bad as ECU basketball is,we have been on ESPN like crazy.Conf USA needs ESPN to partner with the conf like nobody's business.

I would prefer ESPN, but to be honest I don't want to go back to Tuesday and Wednesday games. If we were able to only play Thurs, Fri, Sat then great, but it's not likely with ESPN. I really wish we could get with nbc and fox instead of CBS. CBS would rather reshow a sec game from 2012 than show us live.

You can hate ESPN all you want, but at the end of the day, an ESPN deal is the best way for C-USA to gain increased exposure and will be for at least the next 5-10 years.

RE: C-USA needs a ESPN TV deal
I'm very much of mixed minds about ESPN.

1. I do agree that they hold the keys to the kingdom, it seems. We were hardly mentioned in football season because they didn't hold our games. I get it, entirely. They are going to promote their partners, and we weren't one of them. Like it or not, they are the giant. Wish that weren't the case, and I truly dislike Kirk Herbstreit, but it is what it is.

2. As long as my season isn't filled with weeknight games and our exposure is limited to those (think MAC) then some games during the week are OK. If that's the price, I'd be OK.

3. I, too, loved our football coverage. I could find C-USA games all over, and I saw Marshall play 11 out of 12 games through our providers. But also agree that basketball coverage has been terrible. MAYBE one game a week.

4. If there were a way to get some ESPN exposure and keep our current package, I'd be all for that. But not sure that can happen.

Just like they promote Sun Belt and MAC games (their partners) on Tuesday nights or Gameday? Its a joke these Tues, Wed. and Thursday telecasts, ESPN spends more time promoting the SEC games than actual time spent on game at hand...Its like a big infomercial and its not going to change....Any teams outside p5 are jokes to ESPN and they do not do a good job hiding it either when they show these games on a Tuesday night at 9est..

Coming from Sun Belt I appreciate FOx and to a lesser extent CBS this year not treating us like 2nd class citizens....

American Sports Network has been awesome......THey really do a good job promoting who they cover and its nice to see a game on TV on Saturday night which we would never get in a million years with ESPN....Expand out to NBC and continue as is, only way to go IMO>..

As far as basketball coverage, I dont think its been as bad as people act like...Its not 100% ideal, but usually we have a CUSA game on Thursday night on CBS or FSN to go along with one game on ASN..Saturday has 1 to 2 games on ASN and 1 or 2 on FSN which is light years ahead of what we had in Sun Belt.....I know you guys expect better and it could be better but it also could be worse..WKU has had just about every game on FCS if not on the other networks which is nice too if you are a out of town fan like me...>Before we were regulated to ESPN3, now its nice to be on TV again and have the ability to record games....Just saying..

You got that right. Unless you are part of the "cartel", we will continue to be a one bid league.

Yep the cartel can just schedule 14 non conf. home games, play a few tough game on a neutral court and be set.,.They all enter conf. play with great records, beat each other up and as long as they finish .500 of better in conference they are dancing....This year is amazing at the number of mediocre teams in the "cartel Conferences' that have bids right now according to JOe Lunardi...SEC getting 6 teams in a joke in itself....I guess WKU would be the 4th best team in the SEC after beating their 4th best team on their home court.....

CUSA teams have to only lose 3 or 4 games and hope other teams lose to have a chance at a at large bid....If each our teams had 12 or 13 home games non conf. we would all be in the hunt too an at large bid, look at ODU, haha....Every conf. outside cartel should refuse to play these away games at cartel conf. teams.....MOney is not as big of an issue in college basketball as college football to not play cartel teams....

RE: C-USA needs a ESPN TV deal
Yes let's go back to ESPN so our football will be weeknight filler games. Screw that. As I recall when we were there outsode of Memphis our basketball got almost zero coverage and was still a one bid league.
