Mens hoops is keeping us out of serious consideration for CUSA. Hoops money drives that league unlike most other FBS conferences. We are on their radar and have had direct talks in the past. But the timing of our basketball program's swoon and this potential opportunity couldn't have been worse for us.

Baseball is a big deal to CUSA and helps ours case. But hoops is the big driver for them.

Old Dominion would be a solid rival. Not my first choice but we could do a lot worse. As long as the rivalry were to put us over the top of them then I would be okay with it. I think Liberty needs to brand itself as a national school with national rivalries. Get a Texas school to go against or Florida. That would be my ideal rival.

I was really glad you guys went in and voted there to be honest. I think JMU gets overlooked on our board because of the much more public spurning. You never know what JMU's position is going to be in the future, especially as the playoff money starts to arrive, and FCS continues to stink.

Ultimately, both you and Liberty are the ideal candidates because you're geographically close enough to App State to help with Basketball and Volleyball travel. I favor Liberty slightly because of baseball at the present, though I know the Sun Belt would prefer JMU because of the public vs private debate

I will continue to opine for Missouri State publicly because any AState fan is going to want to be a conference with the Bears, but I see them as a replacement for Idaho...not as the 12th team right now.

General guide of the SBC board:

1. Cajun fans will be against any FCS add on principle, and many of them will troll you guys enough to make sure you take it personal.

2. Florida Jag is going to pine for any school in Florida, or on his dream expansion list. He's really not anti anyone...he just only focuses on the schools he likes.

3. Georgia Southern fans generally don't care who we add, but will make sure you understand that they have the far superior athletic program, and you guys would simply be a nice team to beat up on.

4. There will be at least one person from each SBC school that is going to support your admission, one who is going to support some crazy expansion scheme that may or may not involve you, but probably isnt feasible either way, and a third is going to hate your guts, and make their mission on the board for everyone to understand how awful of an admission Liberty will be.

The mock run off poll on the SBC board is now posted. Bleeding Purple of the JMU board directly solicited those members to vote in the previous poll. As that board has lots more posters we can expect them to again win. It would be nice if LU could make a strong showing. It's all in fun and I'll be the overt one here asking all to go vote for LU. Hey it's March and they're forecasting more snow!

Why don't you guys shut that other board down. We made the change a couple years ago from the CAAZONE. It took some convincing, but it was well worth it. This board is so much better managed and easier to keep up with the conversations. Trying to maintain two boards will never work. For us to finally make it a successful switch, one person took the bull by the horns, Hburg, who is now our moderator.

I will agree with this. There is a reason why there are two boards instead of one. I never posted there but was not welcome before I got there.

FlameFans remains a great community. I don't see the two as in conflict unlike the JMU mess of a year or two ago.

How about Not...My experience is the majority of the Liberty Trolls I run across are posters over there. I'm not worried about any of you guys trolling, outside of Sly Fox dropping little nuggets every now and then to see if anyone notices.

As a long time flame fans member, this conversation has me torn. I have a lot of good memories on that board and there are a lot of great guys over there. It just became hard for me to have real conversations about LU athletics over there without being marginalized. I've been with LU as a fan far longer with most who feel they know it all. Well I've seen it all and I'm far more patient and less negative or reactionary. I still go over there and post and will continue to. But I shouldn't have to get in a trench and fight my way out through friendly fire just for being a loyal and supportive fan.

Not to mention being sick of the constant BJ drama.

The trolls you are referencing are not regular FlameFans posters. Most of the angst toward the Sun Belt board was when threads ripping on us were linked. Now they are essentially ignored by FF as a defense mechanism.

There's a place for both forums to exist. I still read ff, but like someone stated earlier, you have to read pages and pages to get any real sports conversation. Many of those guys are way to comfortable with each other. I did enjoy the post from the qb's dad a couple weeks ago. Very insightful.

Moving back to the intent of this thread and giving FF a rest, LU is now 4th in the mock poll. I know it's fodder for fun but take the time to cast a vote if you have not already. It certainly won't hurt.

And re: FF, I have never posted and only gotten on the site maybe 5 times. The depth and comments here, in the brief time we have got this site going, seems to be significantly ahead of the content there. It just never attracted me enough to want to join and participate. Fun at times to read but no more. The advantage to this site is having BleedingPurple, Chief, Voss and others comment from their perspective as non LU fans with civil conversation.
