2nd- & 3rd-hand buzz is that Lutz is no longer in the picture. Sources keep telling me that we are missing names that are being considered right now. Nobody who has access to info is wanting to share in order to keep a tight ship. But i can tell you that our AD has been on the interview trail this past week and continues to do so this week.

Well I know Wolfpack Nation would be happy if Lutz is no longer a candidate.

This bbs reading, post watching, thread searching, Web surfing, twitter tweeting, rumor rummaging, ESPN monitoring, waiting for the announcement of a new coach is really taking it's toll. Not heard his name associated with Liberty, but EKU's coach is taking the Fordham job.

The surprise one to me is Archie Miller from Dayton. He's only making a little over $300,000. Layer may have made more than him last year.

Miller just got a raise at Dayton with a new contract.

To keep him, it'll have to be significant.

There are reports on flame fans that Bob Hoffman is on campus now. Would be a big hire.

I know he was on campus last evening. Not sure if he is still there. Historically, Jeff Barber doesn't bring anyone to campus unless he is VERY serious about offering a position. So by all indications, Hoffman is our first choice and is going ot be offered. Keep in mind that he was courted by high majors a year ago after Mercer upset Duke in the Dance and turned them all down. The fact that the Oklahoma Baptist alum is even willing to come to Lynchburg for the interview says a great deal about his willingness to take what would at best be considered a lateral career move aside from salary.

We could have closure within days or even hours if he accepts. Otherwise it could get real interesting in Indianapolis later this week at the Coaches Convention.

For the record, Hoffman is only 57 even though he looks a bit older. He is a very committed Christian who clearly buys into our mission or he wouldn't even be giving us the time of day. I don't think bringing Jason eaker back as an assistant will be a problem. I'm a big JE fan.

Huge fan of Jason as well. This would be a home run.

I'm not familar with Hoffman but I did a quick Wiki search and found out his success at Mercer. Seems like he would fit the mold wanted by LU. Even though I was not familiar with Hoffman, I do remember the success Mercer has had the past few years.

I am not familiar with Bob Hoffman. He looks like an okay coach. It looks like he took Mercer to the NCAA tournament in 2014 for the first time since 1985. Mercer didn't make very much progress until his fourth season there. I hope it doesn't take that long for him to be successful here.

He would be a major hire. That little trip to the Dance you referenced was a Sweet 16 run including a victory over Duke in the 1st round. He turned down a slew of offers last year from the high majors. If it weren't for his faith, we wouldn't even be in the running. The fact he turned tiny Mercer into a legitimate program say a great deal. He would have a ton more resources in a weaker league if he came to LU.

Lang just re-tweets that Hoffman staying at Mercer. If not Hoffman tomorrow at 1pm, who then? Also says that McKay and Meyer are in the mix. I hope there is another that is the higher choice rather than the M&M's.
