However, I hope your refs get abducted by Bama fans and are forced to reenact scenes from Deliverance.

Thank goodness no one chanted "wheres your green card" We still have band member taking sensitivity training over that one.

This has been the best conf tourney i have attended. Good job UAB.

Band member here. Some people start chants to mess with the players' heads. Nothing is meant to harm anyone in any way. We had not realized the chant was seriously bothering anybody until we were asked to stop, at which point we did.

Every band member that is aware of the events that have taken place at UAB are in complete support of the #FreeUAB movement. In fact, many of us joined in with the chanting of "Fire Ray Watts."

I am embarrassed for the actions of some senseless fans from my school. Congratulations to the Blazers on their hard fought victory and good luck in your game tomorrow. Watching on TV i didn't know this occurred till I saw the thread on this board.

I'll be honest, I chuckled for a second, it was clever. But then again, my sense of humor is completely warped compared to everybody else's.

No apology or defensiveness needed on your part, Hazo. You were in attendance doing what good fans are expected to do -- support your team vocally and with creativity.

Band members are a huge part of the festive and competitive atmosphere that makes college basketball great. You and your compatriots should be proud.

I didn't even notice it. I was about 14 rows up.

I don't think coaching had anything to do with it. I think it was luck. Pure and simple. It happens.

It was right before the under 4 timeout in the first half. The band director shut them up real quick though to his/her credit.

You've got nothing to apologize for. I can't believe someone actually asked you guys to stop. Obviously, some of these "forum" people that are upset by that chant haven't attended games at Duke, or North Carolina, or about 30 others big time basketball arenas where it gets much much worse. By comparison, this was very tame. Trust me when I say CUSA needs MORE student participation and color at these games, not less.

Respectfully disagree. Trashy? Nah. Mean? Yeah. But it's a game and almost all taunts are fair in a championship setting. Now with that said on my part, I feel bad for the UAB fans and I would not do it or condone it. But trashy is a step too far. UAB deserves better from all of us and I hope they get football back.
