That's now the sixth FBS Rice opponent (Army, UTSA, Charlotte, FAU, Southern Mississippi, and North Texas), plus we have FCS Wagner on the schedule.

You can understand why Rice fans hunger for something more than 7 wins with this schedule.

I assume it will be awhile before the 5 tougher games show up in the Orlando countdown (UTEP, Louisiana Tech, Western Kentucky, Texas and Baylor).

This countdown is usually pretty bad in the lower half. Anyone heard if Myerberg is doing his this year? It's always the best.

I like to consider these countdowns as a starting point for expectations. By game 3, I usually adjust from there.

RE: Orlando Sentinel 2015 football countdown
I can understand Old Dominion and Charlotte being ranked low on this list, but UTSA, North Texas, and FAU need to find a way to be ranked higher. At this point in the countdown, there are too many CUSA teams on this list. If we could improve as conference to the point that we only have two teams ranked outside the top 100, we'd be a real force. FAU, UTSA, and North Texas should be able to recruit some really good players. There's talent all over Florida and Texas and the stadiums these teams play in are top-notch. What gives?

Agree. I'm starting to feel like 8 or 9 wins are now possible. We'll have to see if our defense can improve quickly enough to make it happen. That's a big concern of mine.

No arguments there. The Baylor game will be downright scary to watch.

any list that doesn't have NMST (won 5 total games in the last 3 seasons) and Idaho (won 5 game in the last 4 seasons)in the bottom 8 teams isn't something to even worry about...

a lot of those wins came vs the other

I don't get it ...for someone that doesn't want their program playing in CUSA you sure spend a lot of time on this board. Why?

Because I enjoy reading and talking about college football. I also post on the AAC forum and the SunBelt forum. I consider both C-USA and the AAC to be our peers in football. Satisfied?

Eh...

Could better be said that we lost our Super Bowl vs Marshall in the CUSA Championship game, or that our biggest win was vs Illinois in the HOD Bowl.

I just look forward to continuing to add to our lopsided 'rivalry' win total this season. That'll put us at 14-4-1 over the last 30 years.

Tech's Superbowl? That was ULL's Superbowl! Coach Hudpseth was using the long losing streak to Tech to motivate the players to train harder during the Summer. He invited Tech's recruits to the game. He wanted that game badly and just flat out got humiliated at home. I would say that he may have fired up Tech with his shananigans though.

Well at one time you had Tulane listed as one of your teams dont they play in the AAC? All I see or at least mostly see is you taking shots...

58% of your last 100 post CUSA
2% AAC
40% SBC

Yes Tulane plays in the AAC and I post almost daily on one of their sites, Tula.net. Taking shots? At who? Tulane? You'd be wrong on that count.

You seem obsessed with me to be taking time out of your valuable life to count my posts and calculate percentages. What's up with that? Or perhaps you're some sort of forum policeman and I wasn't aware of the hire. Have I broken the law, officer?

You know the only thing that really matters is who gets paid the most at the end of the year; this is just for fun.

Then I'll ask a question.

Which one game this year do you really want Tech to win? Answer honestly.
