Did you mean 25 years ago?

Because twenty years ago, Virginia Tech beat Texas in the Sugar Bowl in 1995 and vaulted into the national consciousness.

Some follow up...
Batt added that the 10,325 Student Pirate Club members represent an all-time high and noted the opening of Raleigh and Charlotte Pirate Club offices last year helped as well.

Students make up a large percentage of the 16,828 Pirate Club members but Batt said East Carolina has the largest fundraising booster club in the American Athletic Conference “by several thousand” and that they have not been stingy with their donations to the Pirates’ sporting interests.

Just food to digest...
ECU 7422(per UH Cougar Pride guide 2015)
UCONN 4900
CIncy 4500
UCF 4073
Houston 3100
Memphis 2800
SMU 2450
USF 2180
Temp 1619
Tulsa 1400

Houston's 2015 reporting has a higher non-student member total for ECU than what ECU is currently reporting...but it is with 1,000. Truthfully, the only one to trust would be ECU's number for ECU. We'll have to take Houston's word on the other schools if that info hasn't been published by said schools.

Yeah we're at 6500 according to the recent interview

Well, one of our recruits (Hussein Howe) tweeted something two days ago that I found interesting.

Expanding our stadium from 50K to 62K I can't wait to play in front of the best fans in America ☠?? #PirateNation #ECU20

Howe's tweet was retweeted by Tommy Clayton (whoever that is) with the following name...

bubba rosenbaum

I know an expansion update came out a few days ago and info was released to 247 VIP members. I am not one of those members. Apparently new signees are being told stuff about the expansion and it is going public.

So, my question is...are we really adding 12,000 seats or did Howe misunderstand what he was told? 12,000 sounds more like what the southside AND endzone would have been. The endzone is not on the table per my PC rep.

Oh, one more question...who is bubba rosenbaum?

EDIT: I see that Rosenbaum is a writer for 247. Is Clayton hinting that Howe was leaking VIP info?

The whole thing is being kept close to the vest. That could be good or bad. Do we need 62k I don't know, but if we got it, flaunt it. Maybe he misheard 52K and thought it was 62K.... Either way the reno will be much needed and inject some excitement into the program.

Yeah I'll be honest, I'm very skeptical that we expand that much. I really think most of it's going to involve the press box with luxury seating. I do hope it includes new locker rooms for the players though. I've had the opportunity to see a few locker rooms from other schools and I was surprised at how nice they were, we could definitely use an upgrade.

It doesn't matter if we can or not it is not our call. Clearly most rational fans want him gone and mike Davis who would be far be the best bang for the buck. The same ad extended him after a 200 plus rpi finish

Phase one will be under 53,000. The 62,000 will be for phase two of the project which we aren't getting bids on yet

The boxes sold out so the architect is working on adding more. So if you didn't get one yet don't worry. Anyone seen anything yet?

Fundraising Brisk for Stadium Expansion

"...$23.7 million in commitments six months into fundraising."

"...commitments made so far includes $11.7 million in philanthropic giving, which will go toward naming and other opportunities, and $12 million in premium seat commitments."

"...the project has received 10 commitments of $1 million or more."

"Officials hope to begin construction following the final home football game of the 2017 season and complete the work before the start of the 2018 season."

I was honestly hoping that they could knock this out after this season, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.

Never was the plan and they have hired another company to rework the numbers to avoid any cost over runs. After we host the AAC championship game in 2018 it will start.COGS

Worst thing you can do is build too much capacity.

Might want to wait and make sure Scotty isn't the new John Thompson.

They probably should have made sure that the ECU A.D. Jeff Compher is not old ECU A.D. Mike Hamrick. Hamrick hired Thompson and Compher hired Montgomery. There were nothing wrong with the coaches that Hamrick and Compher fired.

It's not "too much capacity". It's only adding 1,000 premium seats. most of which have been sold.

maybe instead of expanding the stadium you should try and get a good team together first....

ECU getting bids for football stadium expansion
It's not even an expansion it's a much needed upgrade at press box plus an extra 1000 seats in high end ($$$) suites which are pretty much already sold out.

Also I have faith in coach mo, he just got a team that has talent but wasn't recruited for his style of play and doesnt have much depth at the key position (QB) because of the old regime only recruiting one player a year there.
