It would be a fun idea, but remember that in the CFL, where they use the rouge, the end zones are 20 yards deep.

And for the rouge to make sense, you would also have to add the CFL rule that any player can punt the ball away at any time during a play, regardless of where the ball is relative to the line of scrimmage, so that a defensive team trying to avoid conceding a rouge can do so by punting the ball out of their own end zone (and an offensive team trying to score a rouge can punt the ball through the end zone even when the ballcarrier is far in front of the line of scrimmage).

That's why the old proposal made the ball being touched or touching the ground in the field of play an element of awarding a point. Just booting it out the back takes the sport out of it.
