I'd be interested to see how many total wins each fan's football team had while they attended undergrad, assuming you went for four years. My hypothesis is that the posters around here would be more inclined to be long term fans if they got to watch a winning team as opposed to a loser, although I'm sure there are plenty of exceptions.

42 wins, but I had an academic redshirt year. If I graduated in four it would have been 38.

My entire time was when UMass was an FCS squad. 36 wins over the 4 year period thanks to a 13 win season on the way to losing to App State in the championship game. I went to see that game, so it definitely helped me become a long-term fan.

Currently 13. Plan to add 14 more this year.

I was there in the transition years. 26 wins. My first year (2001) we won 7 games and I had to beg people in the dorms to go for free. By my senior year 2005, UC football was becoming a thing that people cared about. 3 years later, we were talking sellouts and BCS games. Pretty crazy time to follow UC football.

In 1988 Iowa actually went 6-4-3 (4-1-3 in BigTen). Their nickname that year was changed to the Hawk-Ties! So if you have a poll who had the most ties I might win.

Anyway your theory definitely seems correct in my case. In my first 4 years as a undergrad, my team had 10, 9, 10 and 6 wins (and 3 ties)

I would also try to argue that was back when they only played 11 regular season games, but I realize Iowa had 2 seasons with 13 games, once playing in kickoff classic, and once playing in Hawaii, so never mind.

29 wins which sounds pretty good but I was at EIU for 5 football seasons. The first 3 were terrible, I believe it was 2 wins, 1 win and 2 wins. 4th year EIU won the D2 national championship (12 wins) next season EIU lost in the D2 title game (11) wins. So it definitely ended on a great note but the first 3 years were terrible and it took 2 outstanding seasons to bring the fans back. Attendance was bad the first 3 years because the program had deteriorated so much that it took that much success to rehabilitate the fanbase.

Moral of the story is don't let your program get mired in suckage or mediocrity.

40 wins. I got to see the 14-1 season my freshman year in 1996 - including the Cotton Bowl victory - and finished off my career with Luke Staley and the 12-2 season in 2001. LDS mission during the 1997 and 1998 seasons.

ODU's program started in '09 I graduated in '05 so none.

18 wins from '85-'89. And one tie. Of course that was right after Lee Corso dropped in for half a season. Then they went Independent and one year we played @WV, @Iowa, @Wisconsin, and @#1 Miami. Got all of 2 wins that year, and 4-7 the other years.

Georgia Southern had 41 wins (89-92) and Two national championships at the FCS (1-AA) level.

'98-'01: 52-7, 4 SoCon championships and 2 FCS national championships.

Cal had 3 ties when I was there, but not in the same year. 2 in '87 and 1 in '88. Must have been a lot of ties in the late '80s. Arizona had 3 ties in '87.
