As of right now, neither Coastal nor EKU nor NMSU has the votes.
It's part of the reason you guys never got in. The East schools will not invite NMSU, the West schools will not invite an East School without getting NMSU in return.
Maybe something happens...but that would mean a significant compromise had been reached.
If that's true, your comment does not agree with what is being perpetuated by the media, which is not uncommon. Most media, in this section of the country, seems to think it's CCU.
About 2 years ago, the media was reporting that the Sun Belt was close to adding Liberty and JMU.
As of right now, Coastal is a vote or 2 short. It's that close
Unrelated but chief, in one of the threads you guys have over there you mistakenly said that Coastal has dominated Liberty in our conference's all-sports cup. Coastal won the last two years after Liberty won six in a row. Of the last 18 years it has been either Coastal or Liberty winning the conference cup with Liberty taking the honors 11 times. http://www.bigsouthsports.com/entries/ge...ons-131062

Just read this article and I disagree with it. Just read as sour grapes at best, and a controversial article to generate clicks at worst. It is easy to claim discrimination because short of the Sun Belt confirming it, then it is very hard to prove discrimination.
Regardless, I think it is important for Liberty to realize that the Sun Belt door is closed for now. Try another avenue to get to FBS whether that's independence, CUSA, the MAC, Big 12, SEC, wherever. Make it happen or get left behind.

RE: Liberty needs to lobby the NCAA for an independent route to FBS.
I agree, lots of assumptions made in that article. In my higher education experience after leaving Liberty I found out quickly how Liberty was viewed. I applied to a graduate school in Louisville. It was a small school that had an accelerated program I could complete in 2 years instead of the standard 3 years. As part of the acceptance process you must be interviewed by the dean and two other professors. Things were going great until we got to my undergrad experience. The dean asked if Liberty was founded by Jerry Falwell and of course I answered yes. Things went down hill quickly. The dean went on to say that this specific school has a student body that is diverse with progressive free thinking professors. The interview wrapped up and I was told good luck finding a better fit.
I later wrote a letter to the dean asking for clarification as to why I didn't get accepted and never got a response. I applied to the university of Louisville and completed by degree with honors. That quickly showed me what many in secular universities think of Liberty and our beliefs.
