I had to read, then re-read, that score. North Texas lost to FCS Portland State 66-7, the biggest win margin ever for an FCS (or I-AA) over FBS. Portland State is not an historic power, and they're playing with an interim coach. UNT is flirting with all-time bad status.

It looks like Charlie Strong may have bought some time for himself, but he has to keep winning, but he 1s 2-4, and look what he still must face:

Sat, Oct 24 vs Kansas State
Sat, Oct 31 @ Iowa State
Sat, Nov 7 vs Kansas (should win)
Sat, Nov 14 @ West Virginia
Thu, Nov 26 vs Texas Tech
Sat, Dec 5 @ #2 Baylor (very bad loss and the last game for Texas this year)

I think that's right. However there is a caveat. He must beat Texas Tech and Baylor both. If he loses to Baylor in a lopsided blowout like T.C.U. then it's still game over. And if he loses badly to Tech the same could be true. But if he loses to all 3 in state schools it will be "Katie bar the door."

He's out-temporarily. Health issues. Assistant was named interim head coach.

He needs to see an orthopedic surgeon, big time elbow problems.

Apparently Sark has been officially fired.

O'Leary isn't going anywhere, he's coming off two straight conference championships and a Fiesta Bowl. He doesn't have the jimmies and the joes this year. Anyone can see that. UCF would be retarded to fire him.

Why is Monken on that list at all?

In a presser today he mentioned that he and Hitt discussed if he would coach next season and that he would make a decision at the end of the year. Bookend winless seasons at UCF, one hell of a a way to come in and go out.

He's 70 years old, how much rebuilding can he do? He's not a recruiter and this class isn't looking good either. We're depleted and it isn't getting any better. He's also a .500 coach, so I'd have to disagree with you.

Btw, Jeff Ermann also claimed loudly that UVA, UNC and GT would accompany UMCP to the Big Ten. So I'm a skeptic with respect to this story.

Amen to that charge about the leadership there.
