Manufactured rivalries are almost as funny as residents of one city not recognizing a rivalry because they think they are superior of a peer city.

Well, look at it this way Houston fans, you have a 3 game (probably going to be 4 game) lead on the 'Best City' title.

I've never heard it called that either though. Probably something that's a remnant of Tulsa's long lost major oil industry.

lol you can call it whatever you want, it not a rivalry unless both sides treat it as one....and whatever is said on this board, will not make houston fans care any more about this game....

herman at houston was even talking about building rivalries not to long ago and he was saying we need to build conference rivalries..and talked about SMU not tulsa.. as a potential great conference rival

We do need to build rivalries. It'll take more than a couple of seasons. It's hard to just say "Hey I picked you, to be my rival" and it work out. It'll take years of history, teams beating teams like USM did to keep Houston out of the BCS bowl. Generally over the course of several years Rivalries are built, but with this Conference Realignment stuff going on, it's going to be pretty tough. Once the dust settles and this crap is finally over with for a long time, we can start building rivalries with whoever, wherever we end up.

... that is nothing but just another game in our schedule, period.

We need to move this rival nonsense to the Memphis side and make it right

The one thing this thread has taught me: Houston fans are delusional about their ongoing stature in the college football world.

Ok...

Now, can we stop the silliness in creating something that isn't and instead focus on someone else for future rival.

You're welcome

I twice suggested Tulsa as riival on Coogfans to little fanfare. Everyone's caught up on Rice for some reason.

There's no guarantee that the game would sellout at either team's home stadium.

You can not call it a rivalry all you want but I know, you know, the world knows.

if the world knows espn would have tried to put it on rivalry week, but instead the have put uh/smu and uh/navy on rivalry week

if the world knows when our coaches and presidents awhen talking about rivalries they would mention tulsa (they never do)

your entire source for your argument is a wikipedia page, most likely made by a tulsa fan.....

a ton of houston fans consider UT a rivalry..and alot of our history is based around playing them...including out hand sign...
but texas doesnt consider it a rivalry...so it isnt a rivalry

and there are 10x more things on the internet about the ut houston rivalry...than the houston tulsa rivalry......but neither are a thing
