It happens repeatedly over there, seems like every year. When is the last time a stampede happened in the US that killed hundreds or thousands?

Hundreds of thousands? I thought it was 700.

Is 700 not "hundreds"? Your rush to defend makes you look foolish when you can't take time to read.

My bad. I thought you said hundreds OF thousands.

Well we do have Black Friday annually. But anyone with a brain stays home. I guess if the whole country went to Walmart we could see similar results.

What kind of person tramples others on their way to pray? It's a completely lack of common sense, decency, and humanity.
It's not like the people are stomping on them on purpose. Someone falls down, people behind you keep pushing you forward and it's either walk or fall down and get trampled yourself. You don't have much control over the situation.

The same thing happens at American Rock Concerts.

That's a curious thing to say for two reasons - one it's a direct consequence of one of the pillars of Islam - that every Muslim that can afford to do so, make the Hajj. Two, the lack of prioritizing safety is endemic to Muslim society, at least in part to reliance on dogma and belief in destiny. There is a confluence of greed and acceptance of Saudi authority that is also in play, but I think it's fair to put at least some of the blame on religion. I am confident that safety measures would be a higher priority for similar ritual in the west than they would be in Saudi Arabia... money is almost certainly not a factor.

I wouldn't say that. So, you and I aren't exactly on the same footing given my comment.

Not really. The last big one was The Who over 30 years ago. Lots of things have changed. But you wouldn't know that

Yep, and something like 15 million visit Mecca each year. That is a crap ton of people at one time.

Well, it is one of the pillars, although not mandatory.

That's interesting. Kind of like the 7 sacraments of Catholicism.

Could there possibly be a clearer sign as to the barbarism and total disregard for human life that is on constant display from this religion.....I mean....it was at their "most holiest site" during one of their most holy days. 717 people trampled to death.

I mean.....smh....sigh...wtf.....

Clearly what happened was an accident. If we want to talk about total disregard for human life however, how about the people who are using this tragedy to criticize a religion rather than have sympathy for the deaths.

I know what you mean. It's good that liberals never take an opportunity to criticize a whole group of people (i.e. Christians, Southerners, Caucasians, Conservatives) for the actions of an individual.

It is possible to be sympathetic towards those that died and be critical as to the circumstances at the same time.

That's pushing it a little, at least IMHO. It's not like they set out to kill each other.
