Lord, help Hugh Freeze if they lose to us because his coach's seat will become very warm indeed. There was one year after we beat them in Jackson, MS, that they fired the coach and the athletic director immediately after the game. They absolutely cannot stand to lose to us.
that was their first night game ever so they were hard drunk. bottles started flying and the next thing you know the refs move our players down from mid-field to the endzone. then some of their cheerleaders walk past with split open heads. true story - the trees at their famous Grove were dying and they called in some experts to find out why. turns out people were pouring out drinks and spilling so much, the trees had alcohol poisoning

Really?
Oxford is an interesting place to spend a midweek afternoon from food and historic old south perspectives, but it is like turning the social clock back 150 years and they do have 2 or 3 retail stores that sell nothing but clothing like the above.

What's wrong with that? A lot of those college towns have old clothing shops for men. There are a bunch in ENC and several in most southern college towns.

...Yes, ladies and gentlemen, a line for Memphis football tickets.
Not just a little line, either. A big, honking line that started just shy of the ticket windows in the Athletic Office Building, wound around and through the lobby, headed out the door, zig-zagged down the handicap ramp, hung a hard left down the sidewalk, took another left into the parking lot, then stretched clear through the parking lot, back onto the street and ran nearly all the way to Spottswood Avenue...

Apologies.
I didn't mean to offend your choice of clothing on game days
I'll look for the purple bow tie during televised games.
Cheers.

Oh I don't wear ties to football games, but throughout the SEC and the South people do dress up for college football games. Nothing wrong with that. I imagine the fraternities and sororities at Memphis do the same thing.

Look closer at that entire outfit. Nobody I know in the South "dresses up" like that for football games. Bowtie, long sleeve white dress shirt, tight pink pants, dress loafers without socks, a pom pom hanging out of his butt, etc.
Uh, no, Memphis fans don't "dress up" like that.

Sounds like a lot of the "preppy frat" types. These guys are at MOST southern schools. This guy is taking it over the top with the pom poms, penny loafers and no socks though.

This is the point. The majority of them dress like that, as opposed to a minority at other southern schools. It's rather humorous and nauseating at the same time.

Don't forget the tight pink, almost high-water pants. THAT ain't typical. Neither is the bowtie. Or the long sleeve white dress shirt. Or the pom pom in the back pocket.

Daddy's checkbook in the other back pocket snuggled next to the Southern Comfort flask completes the mandatory look.
I apologize for getting this stirred up. It was really the red slacks that generated my "men's stores" comment and I should have stated that. It's not unusual for me to wear khakis and a blue Oxford button down collared shirt, so I'm not lost on a casual prep look myself. Red slacks with pompom is way over the top for me however. :)

The weather is supposed to be PERFECT......sunny with temps near 70 degrees. 2 top 25 teams located only 80 miles from each other and it's our first time on ABC. I just hope the Tigers are up to the challenge vs a team some had winning the SEC West. I expect the over/under for this game to be somewhere around 75 points by Friday.
Here is more on the tickets going so fast this morning....... http://memphis.247sports.com/Bolt/Fuente...s-40190962
2nd game on ABC. In 1976, Memphis vs. Florida State.
