I’m glad we got it but damn the whole day felt off. Gameday was cool, but you literally couldn’t hear or see anything. Everyone around us said the same. Pre game felt weird, the game itself felt weird, post game definitely felt weird. Weird vibes all around.

I could definitely understand not being able to see or hear things on a flat field with so many people during Gameday. Can you elaborate on what was so weird about the time in the stadium, outside of JMU losing?
I meant more in the aspect of how flat we came out. It certainly felt like a different team than what we’ve seen all year. The stadium was absolutely rocking.
Soundoff comment Sunday night said it best: something along the lines of Kudos to those folks who stood out there on the quad for hours, packed in with other fans, needing to get food, drink, or bathroom, and not able to hear or see much of anything, but you knew it looked damn good on TV so you stayed a little longer.

“As a pure event, I have not experienced anything like James Madison”
Now, they have set the stage to come back to Boone next year for App - JMU if the cards fall right.
If App is undefeated by the JMU game they will have wins over Clemson, ECU, and Liberty. JMU would have wins over Charlotte (Easy peasy), Gardner-Webb (easy peasy so long as Tre Lamb is gone), UNC (Drake Maye will be gone), and Ball State. Obviously JMU has the easier road to hoe here but we could be setting the stage for a nationally relevant Sun Belt Rivalry.
It's far off, and JMU will have a lot to replace, but ESPN likes to build and develop conferences to their liking for money, the Sun Belt being sort of a pet project of theirs since 2013 would make sense to water a bit.
If App State beats Clemson in Death Valley, your students will fill the duck pond with moonshine, swim in it, then drink it all. It may be a 30 day hangover for all involved.
Michigan can put 100,000 in their stadium, but GameDay turnout doesn't hold a candle to JMU's! ESPN added JMU scenes from last Saturday to their opening song

It’s not just the crowd is much smaller, the background is not nearly as sweet as Wilson Hall and fall trees on the quad.

JMU is the GOAT location of gameday.
It really is but seems like we lose games that we could otherwise win.

Moonshine? I spent a week training National Guard soldiers in Clemson back in the day. They called moonshine "branch water." Same stuff, pure corn liquor 190 to 200 proof. I have a vague recollection of playing poker with some locals one night while enjoying a little branch water. The last thing I remember was several totally nude women running around the room. I know I had a good time because the next day they told me I did. I also had a hangover so bad that for the first few hours after I woke up I was afraid I would die. Then, for the next few hours, I was afraid I wouldn't. True story!
