Another example of the inequities in CFB. A coach can take a step down to be an assistant at a P5 school and still make a ton more money.
Lembo was making $450,000 at Ball State. When your head coach has the 118th highest salary in FBS, you're sending the message that you don't really care if he leaves to become a coordinator someplace else.
$450k sounds "pathetic" perhaps, but that's still amazing to me.
How many people in a town like Muncie, Indiana make $450,000 a year?? How many people do you know, personally, that make $450,000 a year??
To be the head coach of a program like Ball St? That doesn't really do anything and has what 18k attendance (or something like that)?
That speaks more to how incredibly competitive the market is for head coaches than anything else.

UTSA has gotten rid of Larry Coker. really interesting timing given it's already January 5 and they played their final game 38 days ago....

RE: Coaching Carousel
Quite the circus you have going there, Mr. Illinois Athletic Director... on your first day, you fired the head football coach, delayed spring practice because you have no head coach, and now you're going to rush around on a quickie head coaching search (and probably give your quickie hire a 4 or 5 year contract) so that you can start spring football practice only a few weeks late.

Quote:In his first official day on the job, Illinois athletic director Josh Whitman made a stunning move Saturday by announcing the firing of football coach Bill Cubit.
Quote:Whitman said spring football practice, which as slated to start on March 11, will be delayed until a new coach is named.
Cubit will receive about $985,000 as part of a buyout.
Whitman said he would name a new head coach as soon as possible.

RE: Coaching Carousel
The students don't even show up to games. Their attendance and performance is embarrassing, such a shame for a program that used to be so popular.
